phones with UMA/signal boost

Yes, if you read what's on website forums, you'd not want to buy anything.
For me... TuGo is free. It's not as amazing as I'd hoped for, but it has let me pick up voicemails when I just have a wifi signal. That's a good start - previously I wouldn't have known I had a missed call until I drove about 5 miles from home.
So, it provides some functionality and it's free. If I had to pay for it, I'd be expecting more functionality.
Well if you dont trust websites forums, WTFH are you doing here? Still youre obviously easily pleased.0 -
I forgot to say that UMA apparently has one BIG benefit. If you use your mobile phone connecting to wifi while abroad, Im told the calls are charged at your UK local (ie contract) rate. That may be the reason why UMA is disliked by mobile companies ? Let us know
Just read about Tu Go. Used to use UMA abroad, but for over a year now this has not worked. It always displayed IP address problem, and I highly doubt EE have restarted it working again.0 -
uma on my sons s2 is working fine.0

It does but you have to have your sim roaming turned off, or it works with a nokia 6301 with the roaming on.
Are you sure that is still the case? I used to use the nokia 6301 (more than awful battery life, but good enough) for this. However, recently kept getting the IP problem. Will have to try the next time I go abroad..0 -

It used to work fine with the roaming on and just the wifi on. But the last few years I found i had to get the roaming turned off before it works. was using it in ireland a few months ago,and I spend two months of the year in the USA, which we buy a local data sim for the Ipad and use that as the modem for the phones when we are out and about but the nokia wont work with the Ipad we use s2 and blackberrys. Yes the nokia is out of date so you do strugle a little bit with it but because its old tec its works. Been using it abroard since 2007, I still have 6-7 of the 6031's in the desk draws someware. As I am on 3 now you can use your plan in the USA. 3 feel at home.0 -
