    . . . Apparently I'm classed as a high user:
    5000 - Electric
    500 - Gas
    . . .
You're classed as a high electricity user but if your annual gas usage is 500 kWh then you are a very low gas user (typical yearly gas usage is 12,000 kWh per year).

Are you sure your yearly consumption in kWh is as you posted?

  • Energy club doesn't work for me, when I put in my details it gives the below message

"For total accuracy it's best to enter new usage figures in Kilowatt Hours. It's no biggie, but if you enter the amount paid we must make assumptions about the rate you were on when those bills were racked up, so it's less accurate."

Even though I did enter the figures in Kilowatt Hours.
  • "2 questions haven't been completed correctly.

Errors are marked with ! below"

But no questions are marked with a ! below, all questions are answered.

    Useless website.

On occasion, I have entered kWh figures whilst the Annual or Monthly cost option has been selected. It's an easy mistake to make.

Clear your Internet History and try again would be my suggestion.

    100% positive.

What is the threshold for 'high consumer' in electric terms?

    Thank you :)

Ofgem reviews its <Typical Domestic Consumption Values> every two years or so but since Oct 2017, electricity consumption of 4,600 kWh/year for standard credit meters is regarded as high use.

Every time I use the Energy Club calculator, I find that the difference in annual price from any of the cheapest listed suppliers, is not enough. I have been with EDF Dual Fuel for almost 6 years now and I do not see the point in taking a deal that saves me (from latest) £40 a year, when I am with a company that has such a good, efficient website and great customer service. There is more to a supplier than just just cheap fuel. I only have to look at some of the horror stories from customers of other suppliers here, to know that.
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.

Well, in a climate of rising energy prices, you are fortunate to be making any saving at all.

There may come a time when the objective will not be to see how much you can reduce your annual energy bill from the previous year but how much extra you can avoid in the following year by switching.

There are plenty of approved energy price comparison sites, a good example is the Citizens Advice Bureau at https://energycompare.citizensadvice.org.uk/
