MSE's Cheap Energy Club: Discuss & feedback

@SOlitaire
There are plenty of approved energy price comparison sites, a good example is the Citizens Advice Bureau at https://energycompare.citizensadvice.org.uk/
I know but this is a Discussion about "MSE's Cheap Energy Club" not other comparison site.
Also I told them about the issue/bug a month ago and it's still there...Laters

There may come a time when the objective will not be to see how much you can reduce your annual energy bill from the previous year but how much extra you can avoid in the following year by switching.0 -
As for feedback. Can you push the fuel selection buttons higher up the page so that the dual fuel / separate suppliers process is easier.0

I'd check. But the site crashes when i enter my details
So can't find out if i could be saving money...
Hi S0litaire,

I've just gone through a switch that was flagged by the Cheap Energy Club emails. Said I could save £50 for the year, but I had £60 exit fees so waited until I thought I would be into the 49 days cancellation period.
Just found out my switch went through super quick and I've missed the cancellation period by 10 days, so have gone through all the hassle and I'm £10 worse off! Make sure you are well into the cancellation period before you start the switch!0 -

Are you saying that you initiated a switch 50 days or more before your contract end? If so, you have broken the contract and the supplier, imho, is entitled to charge exit fees. I know that some will argue that it is solely the date of transfer that matters. An expensive learning experience.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. It's more the fact that unless you are into the 50 day period then don't even start the process as it goes through quickly! The Cheap Energy club tracker doesn't take any of this into account (don't see why it couldn't - would be much more useful) when it tells you the savings - but does have it in the bullets below. 10 days later and I would have been £50 better off! :wall:0

My understanding is that you would be able to initiate a switch, 14 days prior to the 49 day cancellation period. I wouldn’t cut it so fine I would initiate and application with the new supplier, say 10 days prior to the cancellation period start, so for example supposing a contract ended on 31st November, I would apply to switch on 3rd October, which would include a 14 day mandatory cooling off period, and so long as switch took place after 13th October, no exit fees would apply.0
