Switched my own electricity and gas to Scottish Power 4 weeks ago and switch going ahead ok. No problems.

Switched my in laws to Scottish Power last week, having spent a year telling them how much they could save. They have got a letter from Scottish Power today quoting Electricity usage £1200.00 and Gas usage £2300.00. Something clearly wrong with the figues the Cheap Energy Club transferred to Scottish Power or what Scottish Power input.

Have told my in laws to call Scottish Power and give them the kwh figure used.

I would be interested to know how the error occured.

Quick update. Scottish Power said they have to cancel the application and we need get Cheap Engery Club, who input the wrong figures, to reset the account so cashback still applicable.

Rather than risk the deal being pulled in the coming days (in laws saving £344.00 pa) I have resigned direct with Scottish Power online.

First poor experience of anything associated with Martin's website.

    Hi

I signed up for the cheap energy club. The deal didn't go through as the figures didn't add up with the company for a raft of reasons. I cannot get the application to change from 'switching/switch in progress' and have even tried to cancel my subscription to the club and re join...still no joy. I have tried all the comparison sites but just feel bamboozled by all the info. Help. Please change my status so I can do the comparison on this site. Thanks
  • We switched to Scottish Power through the club, our contract was cancelled by Scottish power without our knowledge and they blamed the cheap energy club for not sending through the correct information, they have apparently signed us up again (we will wait and see) but now have to wait longer with our current supplier. VERY UNIMPRESSED SO FAR!

Don't switch to Npower. I started the process in February and nine months, and a complaint to the ombudsman, later it still isn't complete!
  • Sad to say i tried using the Cheap Energy club to switch 3 months ago, and only the gas switched, not the electricity. I've not had the promised cashback or info on the free hotel stay. I've emailed the energy club 4 times, posted 3 times on the forums and had no response, so i guess my only option is the energy ombudsman if i don't hear back by the end of tomorrow
Shame as i wasn't expecting that from the site that champions fair practice and consumer rights

The only reason the Cheap Energy Club exists is to make money for a certain bloke :money: and his new commercial cohorts .

The days of this site being about consumer rights are fast disappearing. You'd have been better going via a cashback site (topcashback/quidco) - I'm sure :money: must have mentioned that to you......

I can see how to change my 'usage' details on CEC? I signed up using rough amounts based on what I was paying, but I now have the correct usage details and they are different to the amounts CEC is using. I can't see anywhere to adjust my usage though :(

Never mind, I opened a new account :)

  • On "Online Standard (No Standing Charge) with Scottish. Considering switching. But this tariff not shown on CEC drop down list as far as I can see. Any ideas please?
  • I used the cheap energy club to switch to npower on the 15th Oct because my current tariff was going up on the 15th November and it stated if I switched and they were aware of the switch within 20 working days of the 15th November I have the right to end my contract with hydro electric.
I have heard nothing from Npower so phoned them today and they said they know nothing about the switch!!!
Although on the cheap energy club page it is showing switch in progress!!!
Looks like I am going to end up stuck on my current tariff till the deal ends on it in May 2014!!!
Can anyone advise me on my switch and why I have not heard anything and why Npower know nothing of my switch and I have not been informed of this?

    Hi kathry25

Sorry you've not heard back - we've been innundated with emails and are working hard to get them all responded too. In terms of the gas and elec switch, we don't have any control over whether the supplier turns down your application and sometimes annoyingly they will do for only one fuel.

Regarding the cashback we'll take a look and drop you a line.

    Thanks
