Are you with Spark Energy, Wywth?

No. I followed Martin's advice when he started banging the drum last August and am currently with EDF on their Blue +Price Promise April 2014.

It's cheaper for me than any supplier/tariff currently available, and its fixed for another winter too

The EDF tariff I am on is no longer available to new applicants.

Btw, I regularly shop at Aldi and don't particularly like Stella either if anyone is interested.
  • Hi there,
I have used cheap energy club to switch to ScottishPower, however this is not showing on my account on the website. It also won't let me reattempt to switch as it now says my bank details are incorrect I'm assuming this is because I have already applied for a switch using these bank details?

Scottish Power have said I have to contact cheapenergyclub as I can't find out through them. But I'm not getting a reply from the email address!

Please help as I don't know if my application has gone through or not.

    Thanks!

I can see no reason as to why Scottish Power could not confirm with you that they have received your application to switch to them.

Furthermore, if you had contacted them with such a query, and they couldn't find any trace, I would find it astonishing that they wouldn't take the chance to sign you up there and then.

Scottish Power CS close at 1pm on a Saturday, and don't re-open until 8am on a Monday. I doubt you would get any email response from the cheapenefrgyclub during this time either ;)
  • How do i change the "Only notify you when you could save: £xxx per year" amount in your account details?

    Hi dicky dunock

To change it, log in to your account, click on Edit Account, on the left hand side (Energy Club monitoring info), change the savings trigger and click save changes.

    Hope that helps

For some reason I cant get any results. When I press to enter my details, I'm just taken back up the page :(

Edit - It works if I put in I currently pay monthly direct debit, but I don't, I use a prepayment meter, and won't work with that option.

Says I can save £310 a year, but with Spark who don't have the best reviews. I've never changed Gas and Electric before, so biding my time with this one

Hi...I'm having a similar problem, I pay for my gas by direct debit, and my electricity by pre-payment key meter, from the same supplier...It's telling me to set up a seperate account for the electricity as it can't calculate both together. I can't find any information on how to do this, as the Energy Club page just asks the same questions about both utilities,...is it me being thick ? or is there some info that i've missed somewhere ?...

I've got a bit of a problem with that headline. Please add an 'er' to the word cheap, that should do the trick. You don't want to be accused of mis-selling!

we've been meaning to switch for a while, so i thought i'd check out the new MSE club.

unfortunately, the signup page doesn't even have our current payment method as an option for our supplier. how can it possibly compare the whole energy market for me if it can't even get my current details correct?
  • Help, how do I edit my energy usage and meter information? I filled it out the day it came out, but didn't realize that Plan7 is UK-speak for "dual meter"... or something. Point is, I switched to Scottish Power, they sent a letter saying they can't help me as I have a Plan7 (really... I thought that was called dual meter), and then my old provider sent me a letter saying "we're happy we can continue ripping you off. welcome back". Meanwhile my account still says I'm switching, and I can't find the button for "I'm an idiot and I didn't know that my meter type had a special codeword that doesn't make any sense. Let me change my settings and search again" :(

I fail to see the point of the cheap energy club.

It is easy to manually check switching possibilities annually using a switching/comparison website. The Cheap Energy Club apparently automatically looks for cheaper alternatives each month. However most people only know their annual consumption, and switching websites do the price comparisons on an annual basis.

So switching more frequently than annually (say every few months) in order to chase an apparently cheaper deal, could easily result in paying much more not less because the comparison calculations effectively assume you stay for a year. If you only stay a few months, the comparisons are invalid.

For example most of our gas consumption is in the colder months, but if you you switched in the Summer to a "cheaper" supplier (based on annual calculations) and then switched again in Autumn (again based on annual calculations) this summer supplier could have a high standing charge and a low gas consumption charge. Over a year, it may be the cheapest at the time of switching. But if you only stay for a few months in the summer, it is actually very poor value for money.

Does the Cheap Energy Club avoid these pitfalls?
