    And this was yesterday!!

@marion58: Would it be possible to see a scan of this ticket?? Obliterate your personal details but leave the dates in.

Hi ManxRed I don't know how to send a scan but the ticket looks just like a till receipt under the name of Smart Parking saying parking charge notice with a number, and stating that a charge of £70 is now due for payment which will be reduced to £40 if paid within 14 days.

Then it states the date and time and location of issue with details of the vehicle and the reason for the issue of the ticket. Then on the reverse of the ticket it ells you how to appeal and payment instructions.:)

The key to this one is what is the name of the company on the ticket you mentioned Town & City Parking Ltd - the limited bit is what got them a ban by the DVLA. If your ticket really says that then another ban could be possible.

    To scan the ticket :

    1. Take a photo of it with your camera or phone
    2. Load it to your PC
    3. Open the photo in paint and colour in your personal details
    4. Save the new picture
    5. Upload it to https://www.tinypic.com and then post the link on here
All aboard the Gus Bus !

Why did you park in a disabled bay - that's the bit that annoys me about your post - you say it almost like it's a normal decision when you are only going to be a few minutes. Like the majority of drivers, I have NEVER parked in a disabled bay in a Supermarket except when I used to drop off or collect a disabled passenger - that's the people who need them.

Park in a Parent & child spot by all means as they are just a gimmick - BUT DO NOT take a disabled person's bay.

Rant over. Now just ignore Smart Parking/TCP but hopefully you'll not do that again.

Parent & Child parking does have a point - to provide some additional support and safety to people dealing with young children.

As far as I am aware, there is no legal requirement for people to avoid using the reasonable adjustments provided by a company for disabled people.

It may be inconsiderate, but only if it inconveniences or is likely to inconvenience a genuine user. Compare it to a pedestrian using a ramp instead of the stairs.

On private land, there is no difference between the status of disabled parking and parent & child parking!

They use ticket printing machines, because they look more like real tickets which is what this is based on, impersonation and the mugs they employ can not write half the time.
    Be happy...;)

In a way you are right except that disabled bays are provided because of the duty of care needed under the Equality Act 2010.

Parent and child bays serve no purpose whatsoever, unless they are supersize obese (= disabled anyway) then parents DO NOT need a wider bay or to be nearer to the store. Even with car seats & buggies & babies to manoeuvre, there is no need for a special bay for Gawd's sake!

I have 4 children. Don't tell me that these bays are anything other than a gimmick to get more families into certain Supermarkets. A gimmick which has caused more trouble than it's worth. Lazy parents now seem to think they have a right to a wider bay when they DO NOT, and that's when you see the lazy toads taking up a disabled bay instead (where there is a real need).

Of course there is a difference, parent and child parking is a courtesy, disabled parking is a requirement to comply with the Equality Act, the problem is that the parking companies leach on this, its their major source of income in a car park, and they routinely breach the act by their actions.

  • To ManxRed, :)I have tried to post images of ticket but for some reason it is not allowing me to. On the reverse it states that the ticket was issued by Town & City Parking Ltd and requests payment to same.

    Hi Marion, thanks for trying.

Someone over on Pepipoo has received a letter from Companies House who are investigating Smart Parking, and Companies House have told them that all Smart Parking's stationery was compliant (i.e. doesn't say 'Town & City Parking Ltd') from 25th January.

Now, I guess we could debate whether the tickets themselves constitute 'stationery' but please do let us know what the first reminder letter states! If enough people feel that the PCN is indeed 'stationery' then I might be back to help you post up that scan!!

For now, you can stand down! Thanks for your efforts so far though.
