I'm trying to find the cheapest SIM only deal

On average over the past 12 months I use
138mb (263mb max)
33mins (1hr 02 mins max)
400 texts a month (613 max)

I've found TESCO at £7.50 and ORANGE for £7

But, can they be beaten?

  • 3 offer the £6.90/mth SIM with:

    200 mins
    5000 texts
    500mb data

£21 cashback from TCB/Quidco so effectively just a shade over £5/mth net. 12 month contract.

Ovivo and then top up £10 a month to get an extra 400 texts over the free allowance. After topping up for 6 consecutive months you will get 200 texts for free every month....as well as 200 minutes and 600MB of data....so text a bit less and it'll be free forever after the first 6 months.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

This is where you need to be very careful trying to save 50p/month on the monthly cost then - if you get a bundle very close to your usage you could very easily be stung with very high run-on rates - such as 40p per minute, 60p per MB or 15p per text. Definitely worth checking, especially where a SIM is for 12 month term. Best to go for bundles that generously cover your usage.

    Ovivo and Fishtext.

Ovivo gives you 100 minutes, 100 texts and 400mb free each month.

You could just use Whatsapp instead of the extra 300 texts (eg if you were frequently texting a small group of people).

Alternatively if you really want texts rather than instant messaging (which is what Whatsapp is), use fishtext.

Fishtexts cost 2p per text (in the UK), so 300 extra texts will cost you £6 per month.

And if there are some months where you use less than 400 texts, then you will pay less in those months.

And this is all PAYG, so you can leave any time.

If your phone is lost or stolen you don't have to worry about thieves running up huge bills. The only thing at risk is the value of the phone and whatever credit you have on it.

So low risk and no stress.

    Simples!

Have you considered Virgin? They offer a 30 day rolling contract so you are not tied in. If you see a better offer that you fancy you can leave. I think they use Orange/EE but I'm sure some will correct me if that is wrong.

    For £7 you get

    150 mins
    unlimited text
    500MB

    for £10 you get

    250 mins
    unlimited text
    1GB

I think they reduce it by a couple of pounds if you are a VM customer as well.
