Hugs Becca, hope you start to get some answers and I'm sure you will feel alot better after your appointment. Do you mind me asking - did your doctor refer you or did you book the appointment yourself? Asking because our doc has just told us to try for another 6 months despite us trying for a year already.

Congrats lemon - what a lovely valentines pressie. Anything different this month?
    xx
  • Thanks girl.
I don't need an appointment to get bloods done.
Apparently I've to go o he blood room. Even the name of it makes me nervous!
My husband isn't much help. He has never had blood sets & is about as keen as I am.
I thought I was brave getting the coil in & out, so I'm hoping pain wise it wont differ much. It's maybe more the sight of blood that will effect me.
    What wil they test for?

I'm feeling a bit flat about the TTC at the mo. Feel like I'm being left behind which I know is daft but I can't help it at the mo :o:o Almost +ve OPK today at CD11 which is unheard of for me, but will wait n see what happens. No EWCM but thats been lacking for ages now.

Hope everyone had enjoyed valentines. DD is at her dads for the first valentines since I have been with DH so we have been out for a lovely meal. It was very lovely  Our kitten has gone missing tho :(:(:(:(:(:( Hes been going out for an hour or so at a time, and has been fine and comes back straight away. Not today tho. He went out at 4.30 and hasn't come back. I sooooooo hope he comes back soon. Can't cope with more bad news :(:(:(:(:(:( He has stomach problems and can't eat certain foods so I really really hope noone has taken him in cos he will end up poorly again :(:(

Ohmygosh lemonmelon I'm so happy for you :) really really really hope this is it for you.

Becca good luck tomorrow, will be thinking of you. Things will seem much brighter when you have a plan

Credit CD 21 tests are based on assumed ov day of cd14, they'll be looking for a progesterone rise to prove you've ovulated. I think the value is anything over 30 means you've Oved x

    Hi everyone
    Happy valentines day!
I thought I was gearing up to OV but tests still neg.
this is only my second month of doing ovpk.
I rang & spoke to my doc as I am on,y 25, had my mirena coil removed in aug & haven't been using any contraception since. she has asked to get my bloods done around cd21.
Now here lies my problem - I am petrified. I have never given blood before or had a blood taken.
Cd21 is Monday for me. So I will have to nip out of work or go on my lunch hour.
Is there a particular time of day might be best for me to go? I'm nervous in case I cry or faint or both.
    Thanks girl.

OK, they're testing your hormone levels to make sure you're ovulating. This will usually be your progesterone. In addition they might be doing a general fertility work-up, where they'll look at other things like a full blood count and liver function just to make sure you're generally healthy. My doctor also tested things like B12 and iron to make sure I wasn't anaemic.

I wouldn't worry at all what they're testing for - that's their concern. All you need to be aware of is how the tests will be done and whether there's any preparation you need to do. For fertility blood tests, you don't need to fast beforehand - just eat and drink as normal. I find it useful to make sure I've had lots of water so that I'm not dehydrated. Being a bit dehydrated can sometimes make it a little bit more difficult to get the blood out of you.

They'll stick a bit of rubber round your upper arm and perhaps ask you to make a fist. They'll prod your inner arm (crook of your elbow) for a few seconds until they find a vein, they'll say 'sharp scratch' and then pop a thin needle in. They'll fill a few vials by clipping them on to the end of the needle and in a few seconds it will all be over. It doesn't hurt, it really is only a quick scratch, sometimes you bruise afterwards but this is painless. Probably best to not watch if you're nervous. They will be used to nervous people so tell them you're feeling a bit funny and they'll reassure you.

I've had blood taken so many times. Try not to worry, lovey. There really is nothing to it. It's over in seconds.

Hes always hungry, lol! Its not like him at all, he never strays too far. Need to wait til its light to look properly. Hoping someone has taken him in or hes locked in a shed somewhere... Will go door knocking in the morning if he still isn't home :(

Totally sucks being left behind :( I know its irrational and stoopid, but I can't seem to shake it off :o

Massive, huge, ginormous congratulations Lemonmelon! Hope you have the quietest, most straightforward pregnancy ever!

Becca - hope all goes well for tomorrow, will be thinking of you.

Mrs TM - food looks lovely!

Abis - Hugs to you. Hope your kitty makes his way home soon.

All quiet here. Keep forgetting I'm in the 2WW! Had a quiet Valentines Day (married to one of the most unromantic men ever, though he makes up for it in a lot of other ways). He did get me a huge mug with 'Love My Brew' on it though, which is thoughtful as I'm a tea monster and am obsessed with buying cups and mugs (weird, I know). We had the M and S dine in meal - steak was amazing! Enjoy the rest of your Valentines' evening xxx

Just shut your eyes. I put my other hand over my eyes so there is no temptation to look. although I then managed to catch sight of one of the vials as she was writing on the labels and I saw it! But you dont need to watch! :)

Just be aware if theyre testing for ovulation then if you havent ovulated at 14dpo be aware when the tests come back theyll say that, so dont immediately panic if they dont show anything because they wont if you dont ovulate at that time! But it doesnt mean you dont ovulate at all necessarily. Some ladies ask to get the test done at 7dpo but if youre having weird cycles theres no harm in just getting the ball rolling.
