Hey guys! Hope you don't mind me joining in!

I'm 34, and am looking to start a family (petrified I've left it too late, silly I know!) anyway, I came off Cerazette in November and am kind of leaving things up to Mother Nature for the time being

Anyway, because I've never been pregnant before, I'm a bit clueless really as to what to expect. I've got a calculator thingie on my phone and have been tracking my cycle since Dec. Anyway, according to that, my period is 12 days late this month and I was thinking "Is this it?!" but when I took a test on Monday it came back negative :(

Tonight I've had a really faint, pink bleed. Not like it normally starts. Now at the back of my mind I'm whether it's an implantation bleed or the start of AF! How can you tell? And how soon after would it be likely I could get a pos result on a test?

I hope I'm just not clutching at straws and trying to convince myself! :o

Don't know what to tell you corneycobs. Could be either and the only thing that will make it clear is time. Have you been tracking your ovulation using anything other than your app?

Hi corney cobs! I wouldn't trust a phone thing as they only work on averages, as opposed to what is actually happening in your body! I.e you could have two 29 day cycles so the app will predict your third cycle will be 29 too, but actually that month you ovulate say a week later and therefore your period will be due one week later but the phone won't know that!

If you want to know more I suggest reading the stuff on fertility friend about cervical mucus and how that can help you predict ov & therefore when your AF is due. And then if you want to do more than that you can do opks & temping.

You should then be able to get a positive the day AF is due. So roughly 2 weeks after ov.

Thank you Betty. I will go for my 21 day bloods this month and see a second doctor. I will also ask the nurse.

Hope they listen to you and have some ideas on how to investigate - unfortunately I've found that you sometimes need to make a fuss for people to take you seriously.

    Good luck:)

Hello, can I join you please? Been lurking for a little while :).

I'm ttc number 2, my little boy will be 2 in April (what am I letting myself in for?).
Not sure how long we've been trying - this will be my first month actively trying around ov. I never really got on with the pill after being pregnant so am surprised it didn't happen before now!

I have a CBFM which helped me conceive my little monkey and my friend conceive hers, fingers crossed it will work again :).
  • Hi everyone
    Happy valentines day!
I thought I was gearing up to OV but tests still neg.
this is only my second month of doing ovpk.
I rang & spoke to my doc as I am on,y 25, had my mirena coil removed in aug & haven't been using any contraception since. she has asked to get my bloods done around cd21.
Now here lies my problem - I am petrified. I have never given blood before or had a blood taken.
Cd21 is Monday for me. So I will have to nip out of work or go on my lunch hour.
Is there a particular time of day might be best for me to go? I'm nervous in case I cry or faint or both.

Blood tests are usually done in the morning so they can be sent to the lab. My doctors say you have to have them before 10am as they have all thir samples collected mid morning.

I've had them done at 4pm on a Friday, mid morning mid week & mid afternoon another time I don't think it matters I would think it will come down to when you can get an appointment at your drs surgery?

I was terrified of having it done & I had to have it done for the first time at my booking in appt with the midwife when I was pg. luckily there was a student there so she did it whilst the other one held my hand!

I told them I was worried about fainting & so I just laid down on the bed to prevent that. It took a whole because they test for a lot of stuff then but I would think for what you re having done hopefully it won't be as many vials so should be quick! I had one thing come back with an odd result so I had to go back again! But that was 1 vial & was really quick honestly no different to having an injection.

Then when I had a mc I had to have another test just to rub salt in the wound. Then a general anaesthetic..
So Anyway I'm well & truly over that fear now!

I was just as scared as you I even told the midwife id rather give birth than have a blood test :rotfl: Just maybe make sure you've eaten & drunk so you will be less prone to fainting. Plus they told me they'd rather have someone tell them that & lie down than not saying anything & then faint & crack their head on the desk or something which will then cause them a lot more hassle!
