Fannyanna - Sorry I can't help, but hopefully someone will come along soon who can offer some advice/info

Hope everyone's okay and enjoying the weekend :)

Question - I bought a cbfm monitor after loving the trial one (which by the way was MUCH better in every way) but had to wait for sticks to arrive. So this morning it asked for a stick. The post hadn't arrived yet but I found a trial stick which must have fallen out of the pack. I tried this but it wouldn't recognise it.

So the sticks arrived and look identical apart from the colour (purple trial and all white new pack). I'm a little concerned that 1. I am too stupid to work 'the simplest easiest monitor in the world' or 2. It's broke - im thinking 1 is more likely.

    Any suggestions? X

I want to buy one too I'm desperate for any help right now. Even though to be honest it was the opks that got us to bd at the right time this month before the monitor did... I really want the new one though.. I wonder how long it will take to come out. I don't like the price of the sticks. The monitor is £50 on amazon which is fine but the sticks are so expensive.
  • Hi everyone, I'm new to all this. Had a read of the posts on here & love how supportive you all are. I've been lurking on the 'waiting to TTC' board as we were saving up a bit, saved for a car etc. Now after all this time (seems like forever) we feel ready to TTC.

Got married 2 years ago., came off pill a year and a half ago to try get cycles back. Cycles were strange from 35 day cycles to a 100 day cycle. Went to Dr & got referred to endocrinology about 6 months ago but everything was fine apparently & they think it could've been stress related. So now cycles seem to have calmed down for past 6 months (averaging a 34 day cycle)

Been using cheap OVP over past few months but never seemed to be positive until this month. Was positive on 5th June. Last AF was on 14/5/13. Did some BDing around ovulating time so fingers crossed. Think if it doesn't happen this month that I'll buy a CBFT. Do people on here use them?

I look forward to reading all our posts!!

    MMPP x

PS I am 30 years old and my OH is 31.
  • I should've said. I am so new to this board so please let me know if I'm breaking any rules, using the wrong acronyms etc!! Also I'm fairly new to seriously TTC so any advice is welcomed!! Do people on here feel twinges when they ovulate? I know that sounds strange but my friend said that she does every month. It may have been in my imagination but I thought I felt twinges this month in my left side. :-)

We do it all the time when were not really in the mood if ov happens, and wouldn't have done it before, but when you want to make a baby, seems like its the only way! Unless you were a couple who bded all the time before, and we weren't. At least not every day lol! Sometimes we'll be in the mood anyway so that's great, and other times were knackered but the deed needs to be done :)

    WOOOOPS-clearly that's not how I quote!! See above-I tried to quote claire16c !! I need a tutor!!

But what I was going to say is that I'd find it interesting to know how often couples BD normally when not TTC. My husband and I have been together for 10 years and don't BD very often. I'm quite a shy person so don't talk to friends about this sort of thing!! I think this is why we've never got preggers. Been off the pill for a year and a half now but am not surprised that we have not got preggers yet as only really do the deed once or twice a month & never have taken any notice of OV date until now. In fact-i had no idea about ovulation dates etc until recently!! Now that we're actively TTC we'll be BDing more I hope!

Saw our friends little 4 week old baby today. So happy for them as he's gorgeous and healthy. They had an unexplained full term still birth in April last year so it's been a hard road for them to get over that and now be at this point. X

Hi msmoney hope your stay is short. What I've learnt through this is you must BD for fun as well as TTC. putting the pressure on those few days a month can sometimes kill the moment!

Hey Claire we are cycle buddies :j Hope your mum hasn't upset you too much today. Hugs.

Fanny - sorry cant help on this one. Don't let Dr Google scare you :o

Clomid question - I've been doing a little research and some ladies suggest taking the tablet in the evening so that you sleep through some of the potential side effects....what are your views?

I'm sorry to keep posting on this thread and I promise I will stay away from now on but just wanted to say stories like that still make me cry.

I have been where your friends have and am slightly further on down the road as my 'rainbow' baby (also a boy) is nearly 20 months old ! But you are right, I can't put into words how difficult a time it is but understanding friends really do help. May their new baby help them as much as my son helped me :)

Just had weirdest thing happen to me at work today (i work in care with dementia patients) and was helping one to bed and asked him to roll over on the bed. He then said "be careful of the baby..." I asked him which baby (as they often say strange things) and he pointed directly at my tummy and said "that one!"

Now I know this means nothing, but it was still pretty spooky....mind you my lovely hubby said he'd properly mistaken my bloated tummy for a bump! Thanks hubby lol.

Still no sign of AF, but think I might have a uti as it feels abit weird when I wee - great.

Onto the how often we BD question, we tend to do it 2 or 3 times a week (not bad as we've been together for 15 years!) But now we do it more around ovulation time, and then might have a week off.

We are a very open couple though and can talk comfortably about anything, there is literally no off limit subjects.

    Sorry for CD1 claire xxxx

Had a talk with DH earlier and we're going to keep trying. Turns out he told one of his friends about ttc. She told him that she took 18 months to conceive and to relax and it'll happen. Sigh. Yeah. Relax. Grrr. The four most annoying words. Clearly her husband is not a sex panda.
