    TTC #3..........
  • Good morning everyone  I have been a lurker for quite a while, mainly following this thread and the Flylady thread.

I'm 34 and have just started TTC number 3. I have two girls aged 4 and 7. Just coming off the pill, I have no idea where I am in my cycle, so I'm looking forward to AF arriving this month so I know where I am. I have everything crossed that it get back to normal quickly.

Hope to get to know some of you, as you seem like a fab bunch.

Thanks Claire16c. I'm thankfully not really worries yet as I've known women younger than me take much longer to conceive. Also I think I'm ovulating as I'm getting peak readings, tend to temperature spike and usually have AF 14 days after the peak. Today is CD19 and I think I O'd on day 17, so that makes me 2DPO and early the the 2 week wait.

The GP visit was interesting as she told me to stop temping, so I didn't tell her about me CBFM. She also told us to only BD every 3 days because every day wasn't good for sperm.
Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!

The most advice anyone on here seems to get from their gp is 'bd every 2-3 days.' Useful..not!

You can use your cbfm & temp all you like it certainly won't stop you getting pregnant!

I wouldn't have got pregnant if I hadn't used opks & temped and I'd always be wondering when AF was coming as unless I know when I've ovulated I don't know when it's coming-as same as you I get it 13/14 days later.

Maybe they're worried we'll become more educated on the subject than them & put them out of a job lol!

Claire it's because the NICE guidelines say that OPKs and Temping are shown to be no more effective than BDing every 2-3 days throughout the cycle and then goes on to say that opks and temping can make you more stressed so should be avoided. how much the second part is true is debatable lol

very different from when my cousin was trying- her gp wouldn't refer her until she had 2 years of temp tracking charts to show x

I remember reading the NICE guidelines before and thinking what a load of &$^"£$ :rotfl:

Plus Id like to know where they get their facts from because when you get pregnant they dont ask you what methods you used!

I cant even begin to imagine how stressed Id be if there were no opks! (Plus how stressed we would have been on my 56 day cycle if wed bded every 2-3 days :rotfl:)

That is interesting your cousin's gp got her to do that. Better make sure mine are printed out incase FF messed up one day and I need them!:)

I for some reason decided to wee on a ovulation test this morning (blame the net for telling me a preg would show as positive on a ov test too and fact I can't get preg test till this evening! This was at 7am this morning.

The test showed 2 lines of the exact same colour - I'm pretty sure I'm not ovulating as even if spotting last week was AF it'd be to early for my cycle to be ovulation....

But I've just been to loo at work and spotting has got much heavier, so now I'm completely confused. Even my usual positive ovulation tests aren't so clear or quick to show up.

Any opinions - I'll try and upload a photo (both lines are darker, but camera flash has made them look faded)

I always read this read with interest, you ladies seem lovely!

Im de-lurking to ask a question: (if Im not meant to be on here please say and I'll start a new thread somewhere)

Im looking to TTC from around October this year, im 29 (30 in June )

Should I come off the pill now so I can monitor my body/cycles? But still dont start trying until October

Or come off it in September, have a first proper AF and then start trying?

    Thank you xx
