  • I found it strangely reassuring too TeamLowe- like as soon as I know I've got a long cycle (every one then...) I'll know that pregnancy is unlikely and I can just try to 'r-word' and BD for enjoyment. His specialism is endometriosis and fertility treatments so I'm reassured that he knows what he's talking about but obviously I was in the room and was the one going mental beforehand so I'll take comfort from most things at the moment! :o He was quite optimistic that clomid is the answer as it forces ovulation earlier in the cycle. He didn't say that conceiving naturally with long cycles was impossible- he did say that it was more unlikely so apologies if I've upset anyone! It was never my intention!!!

Birdie I've had people stealing my baby names and all sorts lately. I've lost 4 names in the last 2 years to people popping out babies before me.... At least you know your tree is better though! ;)

Amyloofoo did you have to have a septum removed or anything? He seems to think that I either have a normalish unicornuate uterus (in that he doesn't think it's too small) or a smaller possibility that I have a bicornuate with a long septum which would explain why it looked like a unicornuate if the radiographer pushed the dye catheter in too far. He said that would be easily fixed by removal of the septum.

In other news I swear that anyone who goes on Jeremy Kyle (hateful but strangely addictive programme that it is...) gets pregnant by accident whilst on the pill. I swear this programme accounts for the 1% pill failure rate... :rotfl:

    Morning everyone,

I'm convinced there's something wrong :( I took another test yesterday and it was BFN again, but the spotting got heavier during day (sorry the next bit is far tmi!!) So I just figured AF was on her way and put a tampax up for work, when I got home and took it out there was just thick dark brown (almost black) gunky stuff on it, really weird looking - never had it before.

There's more of it today (but less on tampax then yesterday) and I've got cramps that don't feel like AF and my tummy feels really bloated and hard. I've rung the docs but they have no appointments and I'm going away tonight till Monday, quite worried and don't know what to do.... has anyone else had this? I Googled it and scared myself even more (when will I learn not to Google symptoms!)
  • How long are your cycles usually loulou? How long has this one been? I have very dark brown/ weird flow every month but my FS told me it was because my cycles were long and that the older the blood is the darker and gunkier it gets...

Yup, he is absolutely right. It isn't impossible, it is just less likely. In the same way that it is more likely if you DTD in a certain position and lie with your bum in the air afterwards! And we have all tried that one I am sure, and we are still here grr!

Also agree on the Jeremy Kyle thing. It seems to be part of the application! Perhaps they have researchers just hanging around maternity wards looking for potentials?
Or worse, insider maternity nurses? !!!!

We are going to see Micky Flanagan tonight, v v excited but back aches :-(. Might take a painkiller later if it doesn't ease (because now I know I can grr).

Hugs to all but congrats to Amy - wishing you a very boring 9 months!

They said they'd only consider the surgical options if I'd been trying for more than 12 months without a BFP (not far off), or had recurrent miscarriages. My GP really doesn't seem to know what she's doing with fertility issues though - I was sent for a scan for suspected PCOS but have had no bloods taken and had to wait for 4 weeks to find out more about my uterus as she didn't understand the results of the scan... All in all not very reassuring, and I hate the 'wait and see' approach, but then I'm not a very patient person!

I hope you get some answers at your next scan and that it's something either not very serious or easily fixable :o If he's right and you had a normal sized unicornuate uterus then presumably the only potential impacts on fertility would be long cycles and the one 'connected' ovary (unless I've misunderstood, which is very possible, sorry)? I hope you get some answers and your forever baby soon :grouphug:

Normally between 28-30 days, think I'm about day 35 now, so longer cycle then usual but not hugely long.

It's not normal in amount of blood either - less then normal for me.

    Thanks for the reply :)
