This makes me think the horrible man has ruined it for me. I am completely estranged from him though (not seen him in over 8 years) so no idea if they take that into account or not.

"Arrange a police check - you will not be allowed to adopt if you, or an
adult member of your family, have been convicted of a serious offence, eg
against a child." (https://www.gov.uk/child-adoption/adoption-assessment)

His conviction isn't against a child but it is 'serious'. It doesn't make any mention of estrangement and I can't find anything about it...

Tea i looked at my area's and it says a CRB for every adult member of your household...maybe that's what they mean by family? so it should just be you and DH x

Please don't lose hope on this. As far as I am aware, the question is centred around making sure any child isn't in danger. A red flag may be raised if someone has a conviction is against children (obviously, I guess) or violence. However I'm pretty sure that as long as you can state that this person will not have unsupervised access to the child (which may come out in meetings/interviews if you decide to go down this route - or you could write it on the form to make sure) and/or (even better for the purposes of this) you have nothing to do with this person, then it shouldn't cause problems for you.

Congratulations Abis, desperately hoping for a sticky bean and healthy pregnancy for you. I'm not going to say the 'r' word, but try to enjoy yourself as much as you can.

BZ, I hope you're not overtaken and that the IVF plans aren't needed any longer, IYSWIM. It always feels so lovely to see an 'old timer' graduate from the thread - sending lots of positive thoughts your way.

Afm, I've also received the email from CB - annoying that we have to save wee, but I've agreed :rotfl: For those who are feeling like crazy ladies, you're not alone - I have a folder on the laptop dedicated to names, nursery furniture and research on attachment parenting and breast feeding. I've managed to pretend that the research side of things is work related, but there's no excuse for the cute outfits or knitting projects!

Ugh just clicked on the news headlines & it says 'mother accused of killing six children in house fire 'fell pregnant by another man by dogging then had an abortion.' It's like somehow evolution got messed up somewhere along the line in terms of who gets pregnant so easily- or at all.

I got the same email. Gonna talk to dh about it. He may be freaked out at wee in the fridge!

Teaandcakeordeath the convictions won't automatically rule you out, don't worry. But they will want to explore what your relationship with him is and why, the focus is is risk to children being placed with you. Please do pm me if you have questions as I work in this field (great whilst ttc, lucky me)
Congrats abis and becca for different, but equally exciting reasons!

    Nothing of interest here.... Humph!

    Hi everyone,

    Congratulations to Abis :)

I've had a bit more spotting today, but still only tiny streaks of brown mucousy stuff, didnt test as was sure it'd develop into AF during the day but it didn't...

Then at work I was feeling really nauseous and was suddenly sick everywhere - very embarrassing, so was sent home, then I just sat on sofa and cried (not sure why!) Until hubby came home....feel fine now, no more sickness so don't think its a bug.

It's all very very odd, if AF doesn't arrive tonight I'm going to test in morning....
