    Hi Claire!

No I haven't done anything to track it yet. Haven't had any ecwm at all (I've tried to pick up the terminology, sorry if I get it wrong) and with such long cycles just assumed I wasn't. What's the best way for a total beginner to start doing it?

Generally you won't get a period until you've ovulated so chances are you've been ovulating around 2 weeks before your period started.

To track it if you want to check that & know when, it all depends how involved you want to be. I buy cheap ovulation predictor tests off home health/ amazon, that you pee on, and I also 'temp' - check out the Fertility Friend website for info on that.( if you click on the names in blue on the lists becca posts you can see charts).

I also look out for ewcm. Which sometimes can be easy to miss!

My longest cycle was 54 days I think but I still ovulated that cycle. I track ovulation even when I haven't been ttc because then I know when to expect my period!

Becca didn't you say you kept it in a cool bag somewhere?

DH said he had no problem with my pee in the fridge if it meant that he could keep his fishing maggots in there which I knew would be his reply to that lol and there is no way that is happening!
  • Angeltreats ask your doctor to investigate for endometriosis. It doesn't show on ultrasounds and can only be diagnosed via laproscopy.

Congrats to repetsir's wife (and you of course!) for the BFP.

    Welcome to the newbies!

Code. You always make me laugh- thank you. I hope that one day your poo's are made of gingerbread! I'd like shortbread poo's please...

Thank you for all your kind thoughts. I'll probably lurk for the next week or two as I'm really not in a good place. I've managed to wangle a private appointment with my NHS consultant (no food for me and OH for the rest of the month! :o ) next Wednesday so hopefully we'll get some answers or solutions then. I'm driving myself mental and it's only been a day- I'm going to be hairless by next week.

    Congratulations retepetsir! :j

Welcome Sapphire  A lot of us had mega cycles after the pill so whilst it's frustrating, it's normal. :) Enjoy planning your wedding!

Code, love your funny FB rages! I've had a clearout recently to get rid of the annoying smuggos with gingerbread poo on there! :p

Teacake that's great you've got an appt. you know you can always rant on here, we all do from time to time!

Code- the worst Facebook thing I see like that is someone at school who not only said she didn't want kids & would never ever ever change her mind but that she hated them etc but now has a kid. How did that happen before me when I love kids!! Grr.

maybe she was doing what I do? If someone asks me if we're going to have kids I just say we're not because I don't like kids. Its just easier than the truth which just upsets me and makes everyone else uncomfortable.

retepetsir- congratulations to you & your partner, hope you have a healthy & happy 9months

claire16c- we looked into that but the flights didn't get back until early hours of Monday morning & I am back at school then :(

Birdie85- we may do that but initially were thinking of the caribbean somewhere?!

hugs tcd and angeltreats hope further appointments can help diagnose issues and come up with solutions for you both.

AFM CD 19 and still awaiting OV. We use conceive plus every time we BD and I use OPK's but trying to still be spontaneous too as months ago it got to the point we were just BD cos we "had" to and there wasn't much fun it :( am thinking if not pregnant in a few months I may buy a CBFM as been reading reviews recently.

Is there a minimum time of TTC before you can see your Dr? I got pregnant last April but had a missed miscarriage in May so I guess I know I can get pregnant but as each month goes by it gets harder to stay positive although I know some ladies here and on other threads have been trying for much longer than me :(

Emy it's considered normal for it to take up to twelve months for a healthy couple to conceive and each time you get pregnant sort of resets the clock. Maybe you could ask your gp for the preliminary blood tests, I think a few ladies on here have had luck getting hormone checks before the twelve month Mark x

Congratulations to retepetsir and your OH!

Hi Sapphire . Hope your stay is short and sweet.

    Angeltreats
    - good news that nothing showed up on the scan, but not so good that you're still in pain. Hope they get to the bottom of it for you. Be persistent with them until you're happy.

Teaandcakeordeath - really sorry to hear about the scan and all the worry you're going through. Good that you have an appointment next week, fingers crossed for some positive answers to your questions and some reassurance from the consultant.

Codemonkey - smug parents on FB annoy me too! One of my friends has become a complete baby bore and barely speaks to me anymore because we don't have kids, yet I know if/when we have a baby she'll be all over us. Another friend announced his girlfriend's pregnancy by saying he'd given her a permanent STD...

sjlou - yay for getting on the Clear Blue trial

Think ov is getting close here. Does anyone else retain water around ovulation time? Seem to gain quite a bit of water weight every month.

Oh she used to say this when we were in 6th form. It was like a real hatred towards kids. And then there was me with my gcse child development & helping at a playgroup on days off school - then she has a baby before me! I wouldn't have predicted that in a million years. Maybe she got pregnant by accident
