    Hello! :hello:

I've been lurking on this thread for some time now and have already learnt a lot more about my cycles and trying to conceive and would like to join the thread please

I'm delighted to say my husband and i are now in a position to ttc our first baby! We've been preparing for this day for some time, we are 35 years old so slightly concerned we've left it too late but the time hasn't been right until now and there's nothing we can do about the past now. We have been taking vitamins to support conception for the last 4 months and I've been tracking my cycles for the last 8 months. I have a pretty regular cycle which is approx 26 days and am currently on CD19.

Look forward to sharing my journey with you lovely people!

I've not been here that long but welcome!! Everyone here is beyond lovely!!
Wishing you lots of baby luck

Well, DH and I made up over lunch. I explained to him how jealous/uncomfortable he made me with his comment about the other lady and how bad he made me feel about saying I wasn't physically attractive last night.

The test results came back perfectly normal (which I think really surprised the GP). I told him that I'm quite healthy, I'm just overweight! He said that he would be happy to refer me to a dietitian, but he said that I needed to be open minded about having weight loss surgery. Well, that's got a big flashing neon red sign that says "NO!" on it for me after seeing what havoc it did on my aunt and how she still has to be careful lest she fall into the underweight category and how she was forced to get a hysterectomy due to the surgery/subsequent weight loss. Because he mentioned it, in my head I decided right then and there that I was going to prove him wrong. Now I'm halfway p'ed off at my GP (in a good way though) and I will do everything in my power to prove to him that I do not nor will ever need weight loss surgery.

I will be signing up for the gym later this week. I figure, DH isn't going to be going with me nor meeting me there, so who cares if people more attractive than me are there. I'll be working my bum off (literally) and I'll feel better for it and I'll think I look better once I get to the size/weight I want. My weight and size goal is still on the high side of "normal" for my height, so if I go under that, so be it, but I'm not going to aim for it. If DH can't see it, then his loss!

Lovely positive post Mrs T_M! :T The exercise plan is a good one, every step on the treadmill is a step closer to having a baby. :) I've got no experience of hypnotherapy and I've no idea if/how it works but have you looked into doing the 'hypno-gastric-band' treatment? :)

Hate treadmills (if I want to just walk, we have a beautiful gigantic national park essentially on our doorstep), but I love cross trainers and the strength training machines.

Honestly, to me, anything that says "hypno" in the terminology will be a waste of my time. I don't believe in it personally so would never do it.

I'll probably end up building myself back up to 45 minutes on the cross trainer per day, one full circuit of the strength training 3x per week, 1 hour of swimming/walking in the pool per day, and instead of the treadmill like I used to do, I'll probably start doing cycling. As long as I can stand it every day. The best short term rewards: taking a soak in one of the three different temps of hot tubs after exercising and getting to take long showers every day again. The gym is about a 10 minute (not even half a mile) walk from our house (downhill going, uphill coming home!), so I would even feel safe walking home after dark during the winter. It's on the inner ring road, and essentially on the same 'path' as us. Can't call it the same road because it has a different name!

One of the ways I'm justifying paying for a gym membership (in addition to getting healthier and feeling better) is that I can start showering every day again (every other day at the moment to save water, and only extremely short ones) and that I can take longer showers at the gym than we can afford at home. I can also leave the heating turned down or off while I'm away, so that will also save money to help pay for the fees.

  • Mrs_T_M I am so glad you and your OH have made up. I know I didn't post last night but I did feel for you, I didn't post as I wouldn't have been able to stay calm in my writting. I thought about what you wrote all night so I am happy to hear you are okay (ish?) now. If I were you I'd be getting my OH to do something nice to make up for what he said but I'm harsh like that.

AFM I'm still spotting! My temps went up yet again this morning. Only by 0.04C but that does mean 15 temps above coverline in a row. Stupidly getting more hopeful which is probably a bad thing. My FF testing date is March 1st but I'm tempted to test Wednesday. I have the early responce tests so if I am pregnant it should certainly pick it up by then but then 2 days won't that much difference so I should really wait for my FF test date. I just don't want to use a test and for AF to show right after if it is BFN as then I will feel like I've wasted the test. The dilema of when to POAS!

He's going to pay for my gym membership. That's a £49 hit in the wallet for him every month to help remind him that he is supposed to be nice to me or I'll kick his rear! :rotfl:

I'll probably get him to rub lotion into my feet, rub my back, and brush my hair tonight as pay back. Kinda forces him to pay attention to me and feels wonderful. I've always said that if I ever won the lottery I'd pay someone to brush my hair for hours on end every day! :o

Just figured out that if I lose 2.6 pounds per week, I'll no longer be obese by next New Years. I'll still be overweight, but I'll only have 30 pounds to go at that point!

  • £49/month, now that is a reminder to be nice. Does the gym do tae kwon-do? If it does you'll be able to learn how to kick his butt eventually.

Pamper session from the OH! Yes I think you should force him to do that. Also make him spend extra time brushing your hair if that is what makes you feel good.

2.6lb a week weight loss sounds doable. Just don't feel bad if it goes a bit slower as the recommended is 1-2lb for steady weight loss. Remember a weight loss is a loss, if you stay the same at least you haven't gained and if you do gain you have the drive to shake it off and keep going.

Hi and welcome BabyMad - loving the name - very fitting for this forum as we're all a bit like that but it's so lovely here, you'll feel very much at home.

I've just had a very interesting conv with my boss.....he asked me when I'm going on maternity leave....took some persuading that I'm not pregnant (yes, overweight but not pg) but he assumed that as I was going for scans on Friday, that must mean that I am.

Had to have ultrasound and internal scans last Friday to check for PCOS - all looks clear apparently but have got to see the GP next week to confirm results.

Eeeek - had to explain to him that I'm having issues with my AF's and that's why I'm seeing the doctor so much - for blood tests, scans, results, etc....

Apparently he's even told his wife and daughters who are over the moon for us - so he's going to have to undo that conversation this evening when he gets home!

He's very supportive of me having babies which is quite scary in itself as he's critical of others going off on maternity leave but have told him he's stuck with me for at least another 9 months.

Hope you are all having a good Monday so far.

    Love to you all
    Gelly
