It's here!! Finally, iPad number 4 arrived today :j

This time it wasn't Yodel but Hermes that was used. Tesco customer service phoned this morning to tell me it was on it's way, then phoned right after I received it to check I had got it safely.... and gave me a further £50 refund! So £90 off altogether!

I'm more than happy with the way Tesco staff have dealt with this - calling back when they say they will, offering goodwill gestures etc. The only thing they should do better is that the store should phone the customer if an item doesn't arrive for collection - this would save wasted journeys and frustration.

It's obviously just useless Yodel they need to ditch. Tesco are destroying their reputation and breaking promises to customers by using such an incompetent courier. If I use Tesco Direct again I will ask them to send the item by Hermes and NOT Yodel!

Don't Tesco text you when a product has arrived at the store?

Maybe.... they never actually managed to get my item to the store so I don't know. I did get a text from Hermes saying the item was out for delivery.

They should, but I've not had them all the time, and I've had texts to tell me an item has arrived, when it hasn't.
  • I didn't know that Tesco used Yodel otherwise I would never have ordered off them. I have a small business that needs reliable couriers. We tried Yodel for a few weeks before cancelling the contract due to their awful service. They are cheap but we prefer to pay a little more and protect our reputation (we now use DPD). Needless to say, a week after the scheduled delivery date, the item has not arrived. I phoned Tesco and as soon as they told me that Yodel were holding the parcel, I cancelled the order and asked for a refund. I told the manager that I was dealing with that I will never order from Tesco again as long as they are using Yodel. How this company are still operating, never mind securing contracts with the likes of Tesco, beggars belief. I am sure Yodel will use the lack of drivers/xmas period etc as an excuse blah blah blah but regardless of how cheap they are they will continue to lose customers if they provide their customers with such a shoddy service! I for one will be very careful when ordering in the future and if the company use Yodel I will happily pay a little more and order elsewhere (unbelievably I read that they also have a contract with Argos and Virgin!).
  • I have had a really bad time trying to receieve a parcel i ordered from tesco direct. The delivery person apparantely came on three occasions and left a card, I was in on all three occasions and no card left. I am very dissapointed with Tesco for choosing such a rubbish company. After all the reviews on Yodel and Tesco still uses them and let the customer down. I am so stressed out with this ordeal and hope the person in charge of logistics in Tesco's and any other company that uses them to do his job and sort this mess out.:mad::mad:

Raj, I can sympathise with you. I've just been told that Citylink say that they tried to deliver the tv which I ordered from Tesco Direct and never arrived, on the 5th but it couldn't be delivered and so delivery was rescheduled and agreed by me. Needless to say, I haven't a clue what they're talking about.

And Citylink also told Tesco Direct that they had tried 3 times to deliver a tv my brother bought from them a few weeks ago, but there was never anyone at home. He rang Citylink this afternoon and told them they were liars and a card had never even been put through the door. They delivered it 45 minutes later.

I worry, like a lot of other people, that in the run up to Christmas Citylink, Yodel etc take on extra delivery men, a tiny minority of whom are a bit dodgy and delivery items start going amiss. Until such times as drivers have to record themselves handing over items to customers, this will continue to happen.
  • Southend1 I would like to believe it is just incompetence on behalf of Yodel but unfortunately theft is the most probable reason things go missing. There is well documented evidence of deliveries that never happened being signed for, deliveries with missing items being left with next door neighbours etc. It is then up to the customer to prove they never received the goods. I saw on one of the BBC's consumer programmes a couple of weeks ago, that an ipad ordered from John Lewis went missing from a package that was left with the customer's next door neighbour and the customer, her mum and the next door neighbour were all fingerprinted and treated as if they had schemed together to steal the ipad. The ipad never turned up and John Lewis refused to refund or replace the missing ipad and caused good neighbours for over a decade to fall out. In the end, JL replaced the ipad (which they were lawfully obliged to do) and tried to patch the relationship between the neighbours up with a couple of bunches of flowers.

Yes, thieving is rife among delivery drivers, especially "casual" staff taken on this time of the year.

I too don't use Companies that use yodel. Not after they sent me a text sayng my parcel had been delivered. Then accused me of fraud when I reported it missing, as I was in when they claimed to have called. Their driver then arrived with it 4 hours later. Awful awful awful service

I seem to remember using Tesco / yodel last year, 1st delivery missing, second delivery "arrived in store" I even took to confirmation email to the click and collect station.

Nothing! They had no idea where it was, when it would arrive or what happened.

Could only tell me to go home and wait for an email / text.
Three days later and no call / text or message I had to go down to the store just to find out that it had been sitting on a shelf all day.

    Very poor all over.
