Warning: Tesco Direct/Yodel

Naively I assumed Tesco Direct orders were sent directly by Tesco for collection in their stores.... No.... They use Yodel!
If I had known I would have ordered elsewhere. So far: 2 iPads despatched by Tesco, 0 iPads delivered to store by Yodel, 1 birthday ruined.
Waiting to see what happens next in this farce. Apparently the 1st one might have been sent to Sheerness by mistake otherwise it had got "stuck in the system" (whatever that means!). The second (replacement for the "stuck" one) is now lost somewhere with Yodel. Great.
Would never buy from Tesco Direct again. To be fair they have credited me £20 but they really need to stop using Yodel if they ever want customers to receive their goods.

Ok, Tesco just called. Number 2 is definitely "lost" by the courier. Number 3 is being dispatched today.0

I really don't know why companies use Yodel , im my experience are the worst company out there . I have returned items back to amazon and the box the item was in arrived but the item didn't !
I now don't use any company who use yodel ....0 -
hi, i must say that everytime i've used tesco direct it's all gone fine. I've had items delivered to store and items to my home.
I will add though that our local yodel delivery person is very good and items even near christmas where always delivered by 10am:T
Maybe we have just been lucky (thankfully!)0 -

you really dont know why?
simple.
its a cost vs performance equation
They are very cheap. so the companies lower their expectations/increase their acceptable loss/failure rate0 -
Like the OP I was surprised to find that Tesco Direct items were delivered to store by Yodel, but fortunately, I've had no problems yet. Unfortunately, I have Yodel coming tomorrow to collect a faulty kindle to return to Amazon.0

And so the farce continues. Got a call today to say iPad number 3 has been "delayed en route" for 24 hours! Another £20 goodwill refund though to tesco's credit. I think the fault lies with Yodel.... Avoid like the plague!0

Yeh, my parcel got lost by yodel the other week there. I told them not to bother delivering again if they couldn't use an alternative courier. Got it the next day by UPS.2018 wins: Scottish weekend break, london weekend break and hotel chocolat hamper0

Well, surprise surprise! Tesco called last night to say my delivery would be delayed 24 hours. They then called this morning to say iPad number 3 is lost!
iPad number 4 is being dispatched today. They asked if they could try delivery to my home or work address to see if it gets through.
This is costing someone a fortune in iPads! I hope Yodel have to compensate Tesco for all the items they lose.
Also I'm wondering whether it's just incompetence at Yodel or theft. And if it is theft, how do they make any money out of stolen iPads? Surely they have traceable serial numbers?0 -

At what point do Tesco not just think "stuff it, we'll try a different courier for this transaction".
3 iPads is a bit too much going missing to be a coicedence IMO0
