Unlock T-mobile iPhone?

  • If the original owner could get it done for you it would cost £15.32 through T-Mobile.

It seems to take a few weeks after the unlock has been paid for to happen.

One it has been done, when you then put a SIM for a different network in it will be unlocked when you sync to iTunes.

It is all a bit of a faff !
  • I've just unlocked a iphone 4s from T-mobile, as Im just careful says, £15.32 via t-mobile and it's done properly. They are quite specific though, provided the phone was purchased from them and there has been 3 months worth of consecutive use their happy to do it. I got the unlock details within a week of requesting.

This was the guide I followed http://giffgaff.com/unlock/t-mobile-reviews
Roll on DFD, final payment 1st October 2017

Tmobile (EE) will only unlock your iphone if you purchased it from Tmobile (EE) and they charge £15 for it

I know this as I recently tried this myself, and Tmobile would not unlock my iphone4, as I bought if from a third party (smartphonestore)

What did you do when they wouldn't unlock it?

    Your only options are:
    • ask the original owner,
    • use it for the required time on a network that doesn't care where you've bought it (do your research),
    • ebay (do your research).

New unlocking rules for T-Mobile/Orange/EE from yesterday. Same criteria for all 3 brands now.....

    £20.42 cost
Also, the handset needs to have been linked onto the account (ie: bought with the contract) for 6 months now before it will be considered for unlocking.
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

Interesting I got my 4s "sim free" (so I assumed) off contract from Car Phone warehouse for £499 and connected it to my Tmobile account. I now want to use it with another sim having upgraded but it will not allow me to use another sim. I have contacted Apple who said contact Tmobile and they say they have no record of the phone as I purchased it off contract so they can do nothing.....so I am stuck?!?!

    Any suggestions would be welcome.

This is just a total nightmare to be honest.

    CPW warn you about this.
I would sue this EE gang that locked the handset and now refuse to unlock it.

although shortly after trying to get it unlockeed from Tmobile, it went and packed in on me, and to cut a long story short

I'm now the proud owner of 1 unlocked iphone, thanks to a very good smaritian:wink::wink:

    via a different network

I got it last March and no they didn't and as far as I was concerned it was unlocked hence why I paid £499.00.

I don't want to JB the phone and feel cheated tbh. If the network provided the phone then OK but this is not the case and its my product why can I not use it as I see fit? No one seems to be able to help.
