I think Admiral often over value older cars, there must be a business reason behind it either that or their staff are not well trained on valuing cars.
Asking the OP for the recent service should not have much effect on the value as servicing your car is an expected expense, although a main dealer FSH has an effect.0 -
Dealer price according to What Car is £1015.00PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0

quick update - after a lot of haggling and sending proof of servicing to file handler and all works done and checks by fiat and AA figure settled today at £1100 - first offer 600, second offer 850 - offer today which i have agreed on 1100
))
Their process sounds about right. I got caught out the first time my car was side swiped and accepted the offer because it seemed okay and the car wasn't in the best of shape. If I knew then what I know now! The second time, a few years later, I was rear ended. And just like what has happened in your case, the offer I eventually accepted was several hundred pounds higher than their starting position.
People just get worried and overwhelmed when it comes to insurance claims. Apparently they rank high on the list of stress causing incidents, along with moving house and divorce. It pays, literally, to stay focused and not back down. Good on you for standing your ground and congratulations on getting a realistic, replacement cost, settlement.0 -

Don't know about that but given that (round here at least) scrap vales are £150+ and when you think about the SOG responsibilities a dealer has to accept there is an argument that pretty much any car from a decent dealer is going to cost £1k.
A car comes in.......Dealer knows he can get £150-£200 risk free from the scrap man, but to sell it retail he needs to check it over, service it, maybe MOT it, then it needs a clean & polish, add a bit of cover for actually selling it, add a bit more cover for any unexpected SOG issues and there isn't a lot of profit on a £1k car.
No doubt unscrupulous dealers can cut corners (& costs) but insurance companies shouldn't be forcing punters into the hands of that sort of dealer.0
