i just checked their policy on total loss and it says they pay what it would cost to replace the car in a dealership if we bought from a dealer so i think i will use these figures as my guideline,
you werent being harsh at all - i think trade in value for the car is 280 for average condition so you were on the mark, but to buy similar car with same ish mileage etc is around 1200 from a dealer - think i'll go for that but accept a grand if i have to!
thanks0 -

I think this is about the area you can expect, I'd be amazed if they offered anything like dealer retail. And that my son, is how to waft a towel!0 -
well they paid dealer retail to me last year when something went into the back of me (they were looking at their sat nav at the time!) - and their terms and conditions state dealer retail so i think its fair to expect that - i definately wont accept less than 900 as i could not get same car age/model/mileage for less than that0

Do these dealer cars come with a suitcase filled with £500 in notes on the back seat?
You will not receive an offer of anywhere near £1200 for a 2002 Fiat Punto with 110000 in average condition0 -
£475 for the car and £2500-£4500 for his whiplash which can show several days later.Be happy...;)0

well this car is a year older than ours with far more mileae and will accept 900 - so i think yes i will deserve a grand as i cannot replace his car for less, but ah well we will find out next week - i could be eating humble pie!0 -

3 years ago I sold a Punto JTD, higher spec than the one from the OP with similar miles for just over a thousand, at the time that was its book value.
There is no way they are going to get 1k for a 10 year old 1.2 Punto.0 -
ah well i guess i'll wait and see - but the husband was actually in hospital from friday whn it happened till this morning - wont be claiming compensation tho as i dont agree with it - the cars going for 600 mark are not same spec as sons so i am still hopefull - nothing wrong a little optimism now and then, they shouldnt lie to clients about paying market price if they are not actually going to do that though - i think this is wrong tbh
thanks for everyones input0 -
Hi my car was written off by insurance beginning of last year was a basic model peugeot 206 x reg i paid £1500 for it as was low mileage and insurance paid me £1600 so hopefully you will get a good price for yours too good luck x0
