OS Daily thread Saturday 2nd Feb

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well
Morning all
Fish fed, WM on, DW on, I'm starting the day with a cuppa & a browse.
Hugs to those in need.
I've decided to make a real effort to sell the baby blankets I make, would anyone like to suggest a price that they think would be fair, the blankets are square, crochet, approx a meter in size and take me about week of evenings to make? Many years ago I used to quilt & I made a double size quilt, so many people told me I should make them to sell & that I could easily sell them for £50, unfortunately the fabric & batting had cost £100, lol.
Plans for today include a visit to the butcher, some housework & some crochet. Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

HH I know mamas and p•pas were selling crochet-esk stripe blankets a short time ago for £35. I saw them everywhere so they were popular.
It a good market to get in because new Mum's are generally buying new, wanting nice things for their newborn and I think something that but different from the high street offerings.
Morning everyone
Making my first loaf for about 6 weeks today so off I go find my recipe. It's a habit that I need to get back into. I don't use tins so I tend to chuck out a weeks worth of patties but the they get eaten
Have a nice day

Morning :hello:
My new washing machine arrived on wednesday, I removed most of the packaging then stood there wondering how I was going to get rid of the polystyrene on the bottom. I ended up leaning it back while kicking the polystyrene apart
I got it up and running before lunch.
We're getting 5-6 eggs per day from the girls, sales are up again :T
Master tru has been signed off work for 10 days, he sliced his thumb open with a stanley knife. Actually, it was more of an attempt at filleting than slicing
He rang to say he was in A&E, he was in Birmingham so I couldn't go in and sit with him – he was so bored – so had to wait for updates by text. 11 stitches later he was OK but a bit spaced out from the painkillers.
Hester when I priced my cards, I worked out how much each card cost me, how many I could make in an hour, and what I wanted to earn per hour. If I did that with crochet, they would never sell because they'd be so expensive. Maybe find a cheaper supplier, forget the hourly rate and just add a bit on top of your costs? Have a look at ebay, etsy, etc to see what the prices are.
Not much going on here. Still ignoring mr tru, crocheting owls and wondering how to get a huge slice of Hallmark's market :rotfl:Bulletproof0 -
Morning everyone.
giving Mr Bitsy a lie in this morning because he looks shattered so not walking the dog til 9am.
No plans today, hanging around waiting for EA to ring
Shall just potter about shrieking at the kids to put their toys away
:rotfl:
Tea will be HM pizza.
Right off to jump in the shower.
Tru enjoy ignoring Mr Tru
Hester this is a search on folksy to give you an idea
Hugs and spoons all round xxxxI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

Varying prices, but looks,I've there could be a market. As long as you clear the cost of the wool, postage and make something, there is a benefit.
:hello: Welcome Newbies
 Those MIA, lurking, reading, etc.
Nothing much to report, it's windy out here today if it makes you feel better
but it is windy at home too but 12C colder:o
Taking Skye to the vets today, nothing major, just a jab to keep her safe from bugs & beasties out here, and I want him to check, as one of her high claws has gone black inside and she does not like it touching.
We were invited round for what we thought was Lemon Cake & Tea by our Russian Neighbours last night, turned out to be a full blown meal, starting with Almerian thin bread rolled with soft cheese, chives and smoked salmon, then seasoned Pork cubes with pasta, followed with far too many cakes and fresh fruit, served with Russian Vodka, fruit juice, Sangria and Beer, hic, hic. Unfortunately I cannot take vodka near, so mine was with fruit juice:o:o. Have asked for the HM Lemon cake recipe, as it was very nice had like squishy lemon in the middle and very tart.
Better get breakfast as we are an hour ahead of you and need to get to the vets.
Sorry no skeletons here apart from a p!ll0ck of a brother whose dare not speak if his wife is around, but can't stop him talking if you see him on his own, needs some backbone (being polite). Came into his sons while we were there on Xmas Day, with DS & Fianc!, who he hadn't met, his only blood nephew, but could. It even poke his head out of the kitchen and say Merry Christmas as she was in the car!! He had gone before I had chance to realise it was him. Heaven help him if he ever meets mp our Mum in the afterlife :rotfl: :rotfl::rotfl:
Just to make me look like I am telling fibs, even though the Sun is out and none forecast, just having a quick shower of rain!!
BFN. ((Hugs)), Spoons, Hi 5's Positive Vibes all round. LW I am with your DH on the BD, it is hard to understand when you don't have a problem with it. A quick round of shouting and maybe a tear or two in anger and then I am back to normal, luckily.
Take care everyone. DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Morning everyone,
Jools, Judi, Julie, Tina Hugs.
LW Going to my friend's house this evening to see my favourite spaniel!
Hester Where would you be selling the blankets?
Donny That meal sounds fantastic.
Tru Do you have a pattern for a crochet owl?
Had a great night out last night and after telling my children I would be home for 10 I ended up rolling in at midnight, I half expected them to be stood on the doorstep asking "What time do you call this"!!
Today I need to start getting the house into a semblance of order and to refill the cupboards and fridge from the supermarket.
Going to have tea with the children at a friend's house and might even fit in a sneaky cuppa with a friend too.
Also I have loads of marking to do.:(
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -

Good morning all,
The weather doesn't seem to know what it wants to do here at the moment. One minute it is very bright and sunny and the next it is snowing. Started to lay with really big flakes. Now it is sunny again.
Full of cold, don't feel great at all. Hubby is going to take me shopping in a little while, only to get a few bits as i really can't be bothered.
Wm is on for the second time. First lot is on the airer. Made jelly just to use it up. Will bake a cake later when the oven goes on. Tea tonight is chicken breasts. I will coat them in breadcrumbs with hm wedges and salad.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Morning all,
Hester, I really have no clue what these things cost, but would you be able to personilise them, maybe with the baby's initials ? (dont know how long this would take) but I think people would be willing to pay a bit more if they were personilised.
Lovely blowy day today, got the wm on with OH work clothes in, and another to go in after, will get them on the line today. Need to drop dd at work this morning, then home to tidy round.
Will go and see my dad at lunchtime, and help him with his meal, will then take the dog out, and wait for a call to collect dd.
Not sure whats for tea, either a pizza and salad or nabs.
Have good days all xxx
Bargainbird, hope you are ok xxxx0 -

I've been mia for almost 2 weeks, due to combo of work madness (I've worked an extra week's hours in 2 weeks, shame I don't get overtime) and IT glitches, s have not even been able to lurk so will try and catch up with all your trials, tribulations and hopefully highpoints over the weekend.
