  • Hi I hope someone out there can give me some advise, I parked in a pub carpark to pick my child up from school only to be issued 5wks later with a EFPN charge of £60.00, this charge states that I need a permit to park in this carpark but when i asked the pub landlord he said "No you dont need one ". I did not recieve a parking ticket on the spot nor did i leave my vehicle for the 5 mins i was waiting for my child along with at least 10 other mums doing the same trip. When i recieved this charge in the post it added a late payment fine of £27.00 = £87.00 total, again after asking the landlord why -he stated that i drove out before he could issue me the ticket !!!!!, and if i contact the company by letter explaining this they will contact him and he will acknowledge that no ticket was issued- may i add that he did not take any notice of my name or car so how on earth will he know who i am if they contact him, he obviously does this all the time!!!again having asked what proof he had that it was me there he replied " I saw you drive out", Is this something I can take up legally or does this company have rites?. I am unable to contact the company as there is no phone number only a PO box address not even an e-mail.The address is NOTICE PROCESSING OFFICE, P.O BOX 1174 WOKING GU23 6WX.Your thoughts and advise would be much appreciated so I can see the way forward. Also has anyone not paid these "fines" and everything ok. Below I have pasted an answer from a policespecials.com website that I asked advise from.( last comment - How would the landlord know if you was a patron or not especially if you had popped into the pub before collecting the kids- does he know EVERY SINGLE person who enters his pub EVERY minute of the day!!!)As you can proberbly tell im slightly p***ed off with this.-sorry:mad:  :confused:
    SOME ADVISE PLEASE

It's some dodgy private parking enforcement scenario.... they get your details from the DVLA who will do anything for a quick buck these days. Incidentally, it's not an EFPN as private entities can't give you points on your licence.

You might want to go back and look to see what signs there is as they need to tell you that there's some form of penalty for parking there if you're non patron. You might also want to consider going to your local citizens advice bureau as the users of this forum generally frown upon it being used as a free legal drop in

I don't know what forum you posted that on but it's a little odd they frowned upon your query when anyone with two brain cells to rub together knows these things aren't enforceable. Hopefully you feel more welcomed on our forums

Don't contact the company and don't pay. They'll threaten court action and debt collectors but unless they can prove an actual loss they'll get nowhere should they be dense enough to go near a court. :)
  • Do not park on private property unless you are going to use the facilities. It is rude, ignorant and disrespectful, not just to the owner of the premises but also to the customers who want to use the facilities but can not.
£60 fine makes people think twice. EFPN supply the tickets and are also the collection agency.

Do not issue people with an unlawful & unenforceable 'fine' (sic) and threaten them with court action unless you have the identity of the driver, have proof they knowingly agreed to enter into a contract with the landowner and have evidence of monetary loss. It is rude, ignorant, disrespectful and an offence under Section 40 of the Administration of Justice Act 1970 to harrass the registered keeper for payment of a 'fine' (sic) for which they bear no responsibility.

    P.S: Welcome to MSE

A £60 what????? and from who exactly?

Hiding your company details and being impossible to contact by several means is not rude, ignorant and disrespectful?

This is nothing to do with making money then?

Erm 'FPN' ? Do BiB know about that?

    Cancel the cheque immediately.
  • I got a parking ticket this morning, while my car was parked in my local pub car park overnight, which is next to a supermarket. I have never had a problem before. My friends and I are all regulars there, taking our families there for dinner etc. I contacted the brewery and they are going to 'look into it'. Seeing as I spent over £40 on drink and food in there last night, I think it is disgusting that they try and con people out of money with these kind of fines. The landlord has always welcomed people leaving their cars overnight, because it helps to prevent idiots drink driving. He knew last night that my car was there, but didn;t say a word to me. There is no way you should pay these kind of people, and I have already taken legal advice. They work off people panicking about going to court, they are no better then theives. Don't pay them!!!!!!!

FORMER regulars I presume? Hit the landlord and the pub owners in the pocket - see if they care then!
  • Evening,

I will keep this as short as possible.

I am a new member to this site, and had to sign up after reading the comments that have been posted about this illustrious company "EPN". And or “EPFN”.

I myself, have received a parking ‘notice’ from said company (EPN).

Pub in question: Golden Fleece, Lymm, Cheshire, WA13 0HR.

Initially I was fairly angry that I had received a parking ticket for literally crossing the road to the post office to retrieve a parcel which took me all of 10 minutes, however, I did take it quiet seriously at first.

However, having read up on a few different websites, and the posts on this forum, I have come to the conclusion that, it has to be a scam.

First of all: The parking ‘ticket’ that I received does not have my registration number on!!! Yes, how completely fu*king idiotic.

For Seconds: The ‘ticket’ looks like it has been made from toilet paper.

For Thirds: The ‘ticket’ states the colour of my car is (and I quote) “Greenish Blue”. Very professional..

    I mean come on…..

So, I make a call to the pub, and get to speak to the manager, who was quite defensive to say the least, and also put the phone down on me initially.

However, I persevered, rang back, and spoke to her again.

Explained the situation, and said that I had received this ticket.

I told her that the ticket didn’t have any registration on what so ever, she then left me to my own devices for around 2 minutes (while “she” consulted the ‘Boss’), came back, and sheepishly told me that, I should either contact the “said” company, or destroy the ticket as it will be “invalid”, as there was know registration.

She also said, that if I brought the ticket into the pub and showed her that she would be able to sort it out…. Nice Try.

Well my story so far ends here with “EPN”. I am taking the ticket to the local police station in the morning to get their thoughts, and will update you as to how that goes.

However, I would advise anybody who has received one of these tickets, to ring the pub, ask for the manager, explain what has happened, and judge from their reaction to your next move.

But… and it’s a big but, DO NOT PAY UNTIL SURE OF COMPANY LIGITAMENCY.

I would like to here your thoughts on my experience.

    Adam.
