Red light for electric flickering MORE, when mains/everything is off.

Hi guys, i posted a thread about our electric bills going up & up suddenly when we're not using more than we ever have.
Anyway,
With all electric in the house OFF, but with the mains switched on, it was flashing every 8 seconds, but with all electric off & mains OFF, it was flashing every 3 seconds..
This can't be right can it?
Am i correct in thinking when all electric is turned off/unplugged & all mains switched off the light shouldn't flash at all, let alone 3x MORE then when the mains are on?

yes, red light should be constant on without blinking with electric all off, although I have seen the red light remain constant on with small ammounts of electric still on, the big question is, are the units moving?0

You mean you switched the electricity off at the main isolation switch and the meter continued to flash?
If so, report this to your supplier. The rate of flash is supposed to indicate the amount of consumption, but you seem to have a problem with your meter. Your supplier will soon sort it out after you contact them0 -

The light stays on on many (all?) electronic meters, when the load falls below 20W or so.0 -

Ohright, do you know why? I didn't realise this, as i thought it meant you'd using more?
None the less, it's not staying on, just flashing every 3 seconds.
From my readings, even while we were asleep/out this morning we were using 1 1/2 units of electric per hour.Save, save, save, save.0 -

Don't worry. If what you are telling us is correct, there is something wrong so you will not be charged.0
