Tori, thanks for your post, I did see it but don't know where it went. I took your advice.. Couldn't see anything on Monster, but have never really been a fan. jobsite.co.uk was brilliant though and i have applied for three jobs (baby woke me up and 1.30 and I have been up ever since - even though she went back to bed hours ago) tonight.

I have thought about moving into implementing software. Once of the jobs I applied for paid £50,000 plus car and benefits. I am not likely to get it but I asked if I could get a rung on the ladder.

    Thanks for all your help.

As I was furiously typing away on MSE, my boss noticed and said jokingly (I think) that I wasn't allowed to type my resignation letter in works time.

I have decided to take the semi sensible decision, which is apply for other jobs. However, I might just give a months notice next week, and hope I get another job.

You could give him a months notice but say you're prepared to work a further, say, month or two if necessary to allow him to recruit a successor and give a handover. Buys you that extra bit of time and makes you look generous.

In one finance job, I decided I didnt want to work there anymore, called the agency in my lunch hour lined up a new job to start monday.
Downloaded the Great escape Theme tune to my PC, set the screen saver to play it at full volume at 4.55pm. Sent a quick email to my line manager at 4.45pm to say By the way I wont be in on monday or in fact ever again.
Was timed to perfection, Got up to leave (Office had 150 peeps in) and the music kicked in, I beamed with joy and happiness.
Dont worry finance jobs are ten a penny, and there are some Senior Accountants who are cool to work with not all are evil gimps with no sense of humour.
