I know how you feel. My last boss was very similar, she was a absolute control freak.

She would insist on checking everything I did and pick stupid faults, like I would have used a different colour to highlight something. Really petty stuff.

The boss I walked out on was a woman who sounds just like this. Total petty nit picking. You're not in St Helens are you?:D

Hi, I did the 'unthinkable' and resigned from a job that I hated after 7 months, complete with mortgage and everything else to deal with. However it was 6 months and 3 weeks too late as I should have left after the first week. :rotfl:

The toll it took on my family and my emotional health was simply not worth it and it took me a long time to recover.

But now I have freed myself from the mental shackles of the job thing as I know I would be willing to do most type of work rather than limit myself to one area.

I now work full time again in a professional capacity but will always give myself the get out clause of not staying if the 'price on myself' is too high.

As a suggestion could you do ironing or cleaning in your local area to put money on the table and get through until you get a better job?

    Good luck.

What you've got to remember is that no matter how much the security of a regular salary might mean to you, your mental health is far more important. It sounds like your boss is chipping away more and more at your confidence, and unfortunately it's just going to get worse the longer you stay.

Have you got any leave to take? I'm wondering about if you could take a week off, go round the agencies etc to meet them, so when you do leave they're already looking for work for you. Oh, and remember, by law they have to pay you for work you've already done for them, even if you leave without giving notice - so if you walk out on Friday for example they still have to pay you for the 4 days of May you've worked for them.

I'm quite impulsive, when I've had enough I tend to just react and think later. A few years ago I had a high paid job, company car etc etc. But after yet another row with my boss (who was a controlling bully) i finally had enough. I walked into the office, threw my car keys and mobile phone on his desk and announced I wasn't going to waste another second of my life in this company, my nerves were shot to bits and I was never coming back.

So I walked out. Only to realise that I was 30 miles away from home in the middle of nowhere, no car, no phone and no cash on me. Like a prat I had to walk back into the office and sheepishly ask if I could borrow their phone to get a lift home:rotfl:

Only when I'd left I realised just how much my confidence had taken a beating and how that damned job had taken over my life. I was worried, I had a mortgage, 3 kids and no money. But, that was the cue for me to stop working in jobs I hated and to start my own business. It has been a bumpy road but things are ok for us now.

Do take some holiday if you can to call some agencies, throw a sickie, fake a dentist appointment in the morning... anything just to give you a chance to make some calls.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

I jacked in my permie job because of the crappy pay and my boss's broken promices. I've never looked back. Though ask me in 17 working days when my current contract ends and I don't have another one to go to and I might be singing to a different tune!! :(

Oh hi Toto, I didn't see you there. You're looking lovely today :o

    Sammy,

have you told boss how this is making you feel?

(I'm always one for the obvious questions!)

They may be oblivious and think you must not mind cos you are still there!

I have thrown so many sickies and had so many days of lately that my work is piling up to the sky!

Does anyone know of any websites that you put in your info and it tells you what you would be good at!

Had a quick chat to my oppo in the office, I am going to definitely look for another job and work to get my work up to date so I can leave with a clear conscience.

    I think:confused:

LOL, yes he knows! Unfortunately he is a seventy year old man who has no regard for political correctness and puts my stroppiness down to PMT or hormones!

He also knows he has upset me this morning cos he offered to buy me chocolate at lunchtime. We are at stalemate at the moment.

Plus he asks me every week if I am staying and if I have a day off he rings to see if I really am at hom!:p
