looks like the cost of getting these (freely available elsewhere?) forms would be more than the original fine..

i assume OP has a genuine case for appealing, rather than just not wanting to pay a fine for speeding.

  • I got a letter saying I'd been caught doing 36 in a 30. Well, it was at the top of my road, and all my friends take the mickey out of me for driving so slowly everywhere. So, I went and measured the lines, did a web search for how to calculate the speed, and I was doing 32 - not 36. A friend who is a traffic cop said that if the speed is different at all, they can't do you. So, I sent off for the photographic evidence - used it to check their calculations - wrote to them again stating my case - they wrote back saying they were right - since then the camera has been removed! So, in my last letter I questioned this. Letters have been going on for 5 months, I think they only have 6 months to charge me.

But I wonder how many people pay up - and suffer abuse in this post! - when they were quite possibly not speeding!

apparently even if you were going faster than they say, they can't do you for it!

I have had a clean license for 25 years and never made an insurance claim either, I don't even believe I was doing 32 mph. I shall fight this to the bitter end - even if it is a fair cop - you should all verify the details of the speed cameras claim.

Fight them to the bitter end - whatever the naysayers say, this is a money making scheme dressed up in health and safety clothes. We have some cameras sited specifically because there is a school nearby - fair play. But why, then, are they switched on 24/7? It is a convenient excuse to collect more of our taxes. Not satisfied with income tax and VAT, the Police become tax collectors instead of doing their job. I feel this discussion is very valuable and relevant to Money Saving Expert.

Who would pay a company £60 or more to give you a couple of template letters which are probably available for free anyway.

In the vain hope that you may get the speeding charger dropped? Better to pay the £60 fine and move on? Now if you have
9 points already then i will have to presume you drive like a nutter and deserver to be banned.

Caught speeding once because you were unaware of the limit missed a sign for whatever reason. But 4 times??
