Morning ladies, it is snowing heavily here (south Shropshire), even though weather forecast indicated that it would only snow in the north of the county:eek:. TBH although it is pretty, I think I have had enough of it now!

Cold winds and a possible reaction to product(s) unknown mean I have red blotchy patches on my face again, off to look out all the really mild stuff to use for a few days. So when I opened an e-mail about a starter kit of Trilogy products this morning it has made me really tempted to try it, one of the big draws is they state that they do not animal test or use animal tested ingredients.

I tried the Perricone No Foundation Foundation yesterday, (I already had the blotches and it did not sting), but it made my face look dull and sort of grubby, will try it again today before I totally decide, but ATM the Maybelline BB cream wins hands down, looks really dewy on my skin and just the right amount of coverage. The medium suits my pale skin now, but not sure if I might need something slightly darker for the summer.

I didn't like the Perricone foundation either. I felt like I wanted to wipe it off all day, my skin felt uncomfortable and it is very muddy looking I agree. Really it is the complete opposite of what they say it is.

  • I am not doing very well using things up this month but I have used a few sachets which has made me feel a bit better.

L'Oreal Everpure shampoo & conditioner - wba, it felt lovely and my hair felt really clean afterwards.
Nivea night cream sachets x 3 - wnba, although I liked the feeling of this I did not like the scent.

  • Two UU for me in the past couple of days:

Simple Cleansing Wipes - WBA - Nice and non irritating as you'd expect, effective in removing makeup, do prefer the brightening ones in the yellow pack though - 'proper' cleansing has gone out of the window a little after a manic couple of weeks so wipes have been great to fall back on and stop me from going to bed with my face on!

Boots Extracts Mango Body Wash - WBA - lovely smell and nice and foamy

The boiler has heated its last, waiting for a new one to be installed next week so the money saving element of this challenge is about to come to fore for me, in a strange way I'm relishing the idea and hopefully the reality! I'll never take a nice hot bath for granted again :rotfl:

Hope everyone is well, OH is taking me out for a meal today for valentines to a lovely little Italian restaurant up the road, yum :smileyhea Bit of a U-turn mind, said the other week he wasn't doing valentines this year, miserable so and so! :D

I wanted to love this product as well, it sounded amazing... except I'm pale and it made me look like an oompah loompah :( sad times

Are there any other foundations you've tried that match your skin and work? I'm very pale - often get referred to as "casper's ghost" :rotfl:- and find it hard too finding something that doesn't make me look orange. It's amazing the "ivory" shades still look orange lol!

I'm currently using soap and glory's foundation i got as a present. It's nice but had glitter bits in, and you really have to shake it otherwise you can see the glitter on your face lol! I'm shade "fairest of them all" and love the effect it had on my skin, but not the glitter.

I work in a card shop and even when handling a card without glitter i come home with it all over me  So am looking at other foundations which might last longer too :)

The best thing I ever did was learn about undertones.

The palest 'ivory' shade on me will always look yellow, I've got a definite pink tint to my skin - I look for shades called things like 'rose ivory' and they tend to suit better. I say that but I only buy high street foundation as a last resort if I've got caught short!

I can get away with Lancome 24hr miracle teint in shade B10, they do 1 yellow and one pink shade lighter than that though if that was too dark.

My HG without a doubt is Make Up Forever HD Foundation in #115 but its a PITA to get my hands on here, some of the tv/film makeup stores in London carry it like PAM. Their full coverage concealer is a miracle product as well, I've had the same tube for a good two years (gross I know) and theres tonnes of product left.

I'm actually looking for swatches of the Urban Decay foundation online atm, as theres 10% off UD on HQHair atm although Debs should have the same tomorrow I think theyre doing another 10% off beauty thing. I know youtube people like xsparkage swear by it and shes pretty pale.

Thanks moromir, will look into it! I believe i'm a yellow tone rather than pink, there's not much colour in my skin at all, and i get blotches sometimes which stand out =/

Have you ordered from HQHair before? I'm only asking as a friend of mine had a lot of trouble redeeming an offer with them before christmas, and she went to them on facebook about it and got a huge response from people with the same problem - no product, money gone and poor customer service.

I'm not saying steer clear, but i would feel bad if i didn't warn you - just incase. I'm sure they have made changes since then though, so hopefully my friend just had poor timing! I think i'll be off for a smooze online now :)

Once you've found one foundation that suits you, Temptalia's foundation matrix is very useful to cross reference what shades you want to be looking at elsewhere, you can get to it from google. Beware the american names for some products though, you might have to google to find their UK equivilents.
