PROBLEM - Fault confirmed - this is quite important

If you have a competition with an ending date that matches today's date, and you GO ADVANCED in EDIT, then you always get the error message above and you can not make any changes at all.

Simple edit still works OK and you can even CREATE a new thread with today's ending date - it is just in GO ADVANCED where the fault exists.

ie. it is applying <= instead of < for rejection, or applying > instead of >= for acceptance.

This one now appears to be fixed - thanks.

When I saw the most recent changes that have resulted in
"End: xx-xx-xxxx" being added to the beginning if each post I was optimistic that we'd finally managed to grind a workable compromise from the MSE Overlords (sorry, but that's how it feels at the moment).

However, as has been noted by several other posters, even this compromise is seriously flawed:

 The End Date information does NOT appear in tab headings

 The End Date information does NOT appear in bookmarks

 The extra length of the new text string (compared with the efficient brevity of the old posting convention) means that forum posts have to appear in a smaller type size, making the main forum listing harder to read than it was before these "improvements" were enforced.

All in all not MSE's finest effort and one that is so clearly still causing a great deal of friction and upset among MSE's Members.

We're constantly being told that we "make" the boards and are important, so please MSE, pay some attention to the actual opinions and preferences expressed by us, rather than just trying to constantly tweak your "New Coke" system until you feel you have ground us down to the point when you can impose it on us without a whimper.

    Rant over.
    As you were. ;)

My internal monologue needs new writers.

:eek:Haven't a clue any more what I am doing. I always usually use the sort button at the bottom of the page by using thread title and sort by either ascending or decending and get my neat lists ending by whichever date I have worked up to.

Can no longer get any sense out of it - Dont understand what they are advising us to do - not very clear.

    What a blimmin mess!

A couple of things that might help people to view the board more neatly - if you've got adblock plus, you can use the element hiding helper to get rid of the sidebars and headings, so the page is stretched when you're on the stretched option in the user CP.

That means that you can zoom in a bit more to make the text bigger without it going onto too many lines.

    HTH :)

    Edit to add more info:
If you've got Firefox (I'm not sure which other browsers use it, I think Chrome might have it too?) - download adblock plus
In the preferences pane under element hiding rules add (Click on Add filter and paste the whole line in for each one) all/any of the following lines depending on what you want to hide:

    forums.moneysavingexpert.com###footer
    forums.moneysavingexpert.com##.forum_top_outer_2.forum_top_outer_center
    forums.moneysavingexpert.com##.nine.columns.mainNavHeader
    forums.moneysavingexpert.com##DIV#MSEResourceBar
    forums.moneysavingexpert.com##TD#MSEForumsRHS

And that should work to block things off (you'll need to delete any empty spaces that are in the lines, for some reason it's adding some but I can't remove them)

Then in the User CP at the top of the forum (green bar) click on Edit Options and scroll down to the bottom, and then use the dropdown box to change the Forum Skin to one of the ones that says 'stretchy' in it, and then save changes.

Just to add, I genuinely couldn't use the forum without all those blocked as it's far too busy for my brain with all of those things showing, it's amazing how much neater it looks without, although I suspect MSE won't be too happy it's all blocked - if they made it so I couldn't block it, I wouldn't use the site anymore!!

    :)

Gotta say - it's a bit of an eyesore at the minute. My eyes don't know where to focus on.

May run my own little forum & if anyone wants to join me then so be it. My brain is hurting too much.

It's absolutely ridiculous that MSE have done it this way round. Keep the E:, KEEP THE E: !! I cannot stress enough, Keep the E: At least until you sort out every over HUGE problem that is affecting everyone.

EDIT: 111 People dislike the new change - 23 like it. Think that says quite a lot I'm afraid.

OK, A poll - this is for the reinstatement (unblocking) of posting the end date in the title. Let's see how people feel about that:
