  • i had a missed parcel card that said the usual, you need to wait 24hr before collecting. Then next day i went to collect, got there and there was a que out the door, finally got to the front after half hour for the guy to say, its not here yet and there is 5 mins before the 24hrs on your card. Went back later on and they still didn't have it.
  • Hi everyone,
Many thanks indeed for your replies,Ive just arrived home so Ive not been able to properly read everyones post right now.
One of the questions that was asked was why didnt I ask them to re deliver it on another day, well I was working all over that weekend so it would be pointless asking them to redeliver it knowing I wouldnt be home.

Now at first when they said they had lost it(when I firstly went to the post office)I came back home and put in the number on the Royal Mail track and trace on their website. It was here when it said it had come from Stockton on tees and it gave a postcode,I street viewed the postcode and all that shown up was a post office and a few shops so this is where it must have been posted from.(still have no clue who sent it from this area)
Tonight I have just put in the number once again on their track and trace and it said....

"There is no data currently available for this tracking reference."

    Please try again later

So what does this mean then?????

I remember the man at the sorting office telling me the postman probably got no answer from my home and he popped it back into a post box so it would come back to the sorting office,is this common practise??

Ive had a few days wondering what it could be and still have no clue and thats the most flrustating thing about this sorry saga.

And yes I feel very peed off right now
  • Maddening!

Remember it might not be a package it might be a letter. So is there a passport, maybe even a speeding ticket (never had one (touch wood) so not sure if they are sent that way), or a bank card?

If you can I would opt to request it be sent to your local post office. It is possible to pick parcels up from a post office near you.

You never know it might have been sat somewhere where the normal chap hasn't a clue where to go.

I would double check with your bank though, just in case they have sent out a new card.

Nope Ive definatly been a good girl where my driving is concerned lol:T and Ive got another 5 years left on my passport!! and its not a new card either,I had a new one last year and they just sent that one through normal first class stamp.

I cant ask them to resend it to my local post office because according to the sorting office there is no packet because they cant find it.

Im going to go back to the sorting office tomorrow when I finish work at 12,I,ll ask them if they have found it yet and if they say no then I,ll just say "well what are you going to do about it then?"

It may be a nothing packet but on the other hand it could be something important like paperwork of some kind.
Do they send notification via Recorded Delivery if youve won the Premium Bonds???,see Im back in La La land thinking of possible senarios:(

Yes lillymay,my full name, address and postcode was on the red card so it must of been meant for me.

I would so love to be able to come on here tomorrow and say they have found it.....and to tell everyone what the packet was.

My sister recieved a red card once and trecked many miles to pick it up thinking it was something really special,it ended up being a very large catalogue selling interior doors,oh she felt so let down.

But mines gonna be a special something,I can just feel it is.
    Wishfull thinking once again.

I asked my husband and that was the only thing he could come up with - that the package maybe wasn't meant for you. Although that clearly isn't the case.

He thinks the package has been lost; either by the postman or the sorting office. Make a complaint.

I keep thinking what the sorting office man commented on when he said usually if the postman gets no answer then he puts a red card through the door, that ok and understandable.....but then he said the postman will have put the packet into the nearest pillar box so it would go straight back to the sorting office.

Do they really do this??<I would of thought they would have taken it back to the sorting office if no one is home?,very confusing.

Just asked OH, he says at his office (it could be different for other places) undelivered packages have to be taken to a local post office (a driver will then collect it and return it to the sorting office) or directly back to the sorting office. Having said that, a 'signed for' package shouldn't be put back in a postbox.

It sounds like the office you're dealing with still pouches off. Some posties return their packets themselves, others pouch off, which means it goes back in post box (in a pouch) or to the post office, and they return it to the delivery office. It does take longer sometimes if it's held up at mail centre but it's standard procedure for those who aren't driving and where it may take too long to get back to the delivery office. It depends if there's enough time built into the duty for them to return to the delivery office :)
