Yes, the cost of any minutes beyond five should be met by the company who is keeping us waiting, methinks there would be less need for muzak on the line!0 -
The "work till October for the Taxman" has be reduced. Too many handouts and allowances to those who have no conscience. Too little for those who the Welfare State was designed for. How? Be strong, put right what has got out of control. Stop Herbert Asquith turning in his grave.0

Short-term Welfare Payments For Long-term Mortgage Holders
Make housing benefit type payments and free financial planning advice available to long-term mortgage payers who experience exceptionally hard times rather than them risk losing their home. This could potentially save the Government and the tax-payer money in the long-term in continuous welfare payments.0 -
The government should NOT open the flood gates to migrants, instead it should stop all imigration to the U.K with immediate effect. We have too many immigrants already, some have come legally and do good work and are honest people but some come to the U.K. for the wrong reasons and have criminal records that are extremly worrying. there are also many hundreds of thousands of illegal imigrants 'lost' by inefficient government handling......ENOUGH!!
I tend to agree with most of what you say, but its the migrants that do many of the low paid jobs in this country. Its too easy in this country for many of our own, to get by comfortably on benefits.0 -
The government should introduce a benefit card/voucher or similar which is topped up with whatever benefits that person is receiving either weekly, fortnightly or monthly (I would opt for monthly to teach people to budget). This benefit card/vouchers should only be able to be used for 'essentials' such as food, drinks and toiletries and children's educational toys if the person has young children.
NOT alcohol, cigarettes, Xbox, play station games, TVs, stereos etc.
This would prevent people moaning that they don't get paid enough in benefits as they wouldn't be able to spend it all on luxuries. The government would then be able to see exactly how much benefits people actually NEED not how much they want or say they need.0 -
Incorporate the £10 Xmas bonus and Winter Fuel Allowance into the State pension so that it is taxed (or not) at the appropriate rate. It can still be paid at the appropriate time of year.
Reduce the Pensioners' Bus Pass to reduce free travel so as to give give a 50% discount or children's fares if that is simpler.."Some say the cup is half empty, while others say it is half full. However, this is skirting around the issue. The real problem is that the cup is too big."0 -
Free healthy school meals for every child. Just because a child's parents are working doesn't mean they feed them healthy daily meals. Also if your paying your council tax for the non working parents children why not increase so every one gets the benefit. Our kids are our future!0

My suggestion is National Savings issue bonds at a decent rate for savers who have seen their savings diminished by low savings rates. Dare I suggest 4%. Fingers crossed.0

State pensions to be available to be paid to pensioners as calander monthly payments.
Many pensioners are used to being paid calendar monthly during their working years, so 1 or 4 weekly budgeting is extremely difficult when most bills are based on monthly amounts.
Even harder when elderley brains begin to get fuddled.0
