All publicly funded bodies (eg Councils, Hospitals, Universities) should be required to Bank only with the Bank of England, with Current and Deposit Accounts. All other cash investments by them elsewhere should be banned. Keep the Country's money with the Government's Bank and prevent another Iceland Bank crisis.0

To have savings or an income you have to work. Therefore you pay income tax and national insurance. If these people don't get their pension at the end why did they bother working? The tax system has to give back to the hard working people that contribute to it!0 -
Often when you look on the pack of some food packaging to check if it can be recycled, it says 'Check local recycling' as different councils operate different recycling schemes, with some recycling more types of materials than others.
My suggestion is that the government standardise the recycling system right across the country, and have food manufacturers only use packaging that can be recycled.
This would make it far easier for people to recycle, and also reduce the amount of stuff going to landfill.0 -

Schemes to extract money specifically from motorists should be ended. For example, fines for parking fractionally over (often too small) parking spaces in council car parks should end. Also, exhorbitant parking charges should be capped and a 'free first half hour' offered. Non-fixed, i.e. variable speed limits or time expiring speed limits which can be altered on gantries should NEVER be used to catch motorists out and raise revenue.0

The purchase of alcohol should be rationed a certain quantity of alcohol each month could be purchased at a reasonable price then anyone who wants more than the agreed quantity should have to pay more tax thereby raising money for the revenue and hopefully easing the problem of binge drinking0

All rented houses should have carbon monoxide and smoke alarms installed and regularly checked. All houses (rented or not) should have them fitted and checked whenever a boiler is installed or serviced, or a chimney swept. See Katiehaines.com for more about what happens if not.0

Help savers a little by increasing the interest rate on new ISAs. The fixed limits on deposits mean everyone would gain a little rather than those with most gaining most.0

By switching off traffic lights it stops vehicles idling and killing the environment (so we`re told), even if they`re just switched off at night when there is fewer vehicles on the road it should help a little towards global propaganda/warming.0
