    Evening :)

Just a quick post as I am waiting for rice to cook. We are having veggie curry with rice and nan. We needed mushrooms, yoghurt and pitta, but they had none at the tesco express so hubby got nan - yum! He also got some mini pots of hummus for 15p :)

It was also 'bread shop' day today so 2 loaves (one in the freezer) and a guardian. I only buy it on sat. It has a telly guide and takes me all week to read the rest :D

Technically, I haven't spent anything as hubby got these and didn't want the money. I am going to put the £10 to one side though and count it as a spend day and add the amount to the grocery total. He has also spent £5 on milk over the course of the week so am adding that too taking out grocery spend to £45 so far. We still have lots in. Planning a Sainsburys shop next week as we have a £12 off £60 voucher. It can be used from tomorrow but I reckon we don't need anything for a few days. I am also going to make a careful list. Hubby is on board with the shopping lark still and hasn't bought any extras this week apart from the 15p hummus which I was very happy to receive! Breakfast tomorrow with toast mmm mmmm!

Right off to check my rice!

    Morning,

Not a good day yesterday :( Went shopping in the new M's with hubby and 3 kids ~ had £5 off a £40 shop voucher so thought I'd stock up on food we could use now and leave items in the cupboards and freezer for next week. Even with the £5 off it still came to £44.39! Now I'm well over halfway through my food budget and we've barely started the second week ~ not a happy bunny!!
(Note to self ~ NEVER go food shopping with hubby and kids if you're on a budget ~ especially if beer and milkshakes are on offer!)

    SFD planned today :D

    Have a lovely Sunday!

morning all - I am about to set off for strictly - uber excited. On my way I am popping into Mr M's for food & petrol - wish me luck - I have a £10 voucher so am aiming to be cashless (or only a couple of pounds over!)

I am aiming to not spend any more cash than this and thought that if I post my aim here then I stand a chance! Wish me luck. xx

Hi everyone, its raining here at the moment, infact its been raining all morning and its makes me feel low, low, low:(

I usually work on a Sunday but today is a days holiday and usually I would go out and do something, but in the vein of debt busting Im staying in and feeling a bit sorry for myself:(

So today is going to be a TV watching sort of day after I have checked the bank accounts and moved money for my CC to the new 0% one, it wont be the total balance as the new CC max will not cover it, but I will move what I can and pay the old CC off as fast as I can and then all spare money will go on the OD after I have worked out how much I have to pay off each month to get the new CC paid off in the 0% time limit. I dont knowhow some or you people manage with muliple CC's having one confuses me:rotfl:in fact its a good job I didnt take more out or I would have been in more trouble.

Mothers day is coming up, so I have had a word with my DD's, they usually but me some nice smellies or the suchlike, so this year I have got in first and asked for ...... seeds :) Im going to make a list of the ones I want and then hopefully I wont have to buy too many - my garden isnt that big but seeds etc cost dont they:) and I usually grow veggies in a small raised bed, pots and bags:)

Anyway off to lurk a bit more and have a look in my gardening books for inspiration - would like to make another raised bed and get a couple of chucks, the bed I can manage but the price of chucks living quarters ...........:(

    Jxx
PS another SFD's for me, so better update signature.

Everyone have a good afternoon and I hope the weather is better where you are:)

  • Hello, how is everyone doing?! I've just managed to catch up with posts and glad everyone seems in better spirits, I think towards the end of Jan, there was a little flagging, but seriously, how fast is Feb going already?! I'm only spending on cheap YS stuff and had 2 planned catch ups but managed to do cheaply :) In Jan I managed £120 for spends and food (massive stock in storecupboard) and just aiming for as little as possible. Have investigated CCs and interest rates on these and CUs so my plan is to borrow cheaply (only small amounts) and pay back what I'm paying them anyway, and to use this to pay off CCs. Noticing adp**nts is v. slow this week and last - not getting that precious £1.25 a week! Nearly £3 from cashback and feeling more optimistic about the mountain of debt I have to shift than the mountain of weight I have to shift... 4 stone, basically. Such a long haul... motivation is zero and I will absolutely not spend on any fad diet foods or "weigh ins" at clubs or special foods - waste of time and more importantly, of money. If the motivation to do it is there, nothing else is needed, though I do appreciate some people feel it's needed or it's a help. Someone told me yesterday they were spending £60 a week on food, but weren't allowed to eat anything else, but before that, they used to spend... wait for it... £20 A DAY on food! Ate out most nights because they lived alone! So this £60 a week for some faddy diet and shakes has HALVED their budget. Now they're allowed to include tuna and I'm thinking to myself... half a tin of tuna does me one lunch at work along with a reduced YS bread roll! I definitely don't spend £60 a week on food!!! Just need to translate my passion for debt busting into passion for weight busting... hmm... any thoughts?!

Also - gym? Used it before and could see myself getting into it, but it's the cost... it should really be on the "no" list, considering the debt busting!

:o Oh Nannygladys I wish you lived near me I have a nice wee henhouse unused in the garden big enough for 6 hens :-( dont have them any more as I have too many dogs! You could have had it!
Oompa Loompa I can highly reccomend walking for weight loss, choose an nice route that may have a few inclines and get out there as often as possible, cheap and effective as a good vigorous walk is good for fat burning. Cheap too! You are right about fad diets, dieting is simple, more must be burned than goes in and we need surprisingly few calories to keep us going if we are sedentary.
  • Hi all

Hope Strictly was fantastic Ninno, very envious.

Nannygladys you have reminded me that I need to shuffle the balance from one of my cards to another as the 0% rate has just run out. And speaking of reminders thanks for the reminder about Mothers Day. I need to check birthdays coming up too.

Well I had a massive baking and cooking day yesterday. Made 2 batches of biscuits, some teacakes, a lemon drizzle cake, some currant cups, a meat and potato pie for tea and some bread rolls. Worked out that I can make 6 bread rolls for less than 30p so why do I buy them? HM are much nicer too so I am going to try making my own for the rest of this month.

Need to check on my SFDs, think I am doing OK. Might spend an hour or two looking at spreadsheets this afternoon. I really should get the dog out for a proper walk but its cold and raining and the dog seems quite happy in front of the fire!
  • Hi all, hope you are having a nice Sunday. We have had a bit of a lazy one today, had Sunday lunch - quorn fillets, potatoes, carrots sweet corn and gravy followed by homemade apple sponge pud and custard :) None of us felt very active after that!

Went to visit mum yesterday and she was a little better. She was confused but pleased to see me and happy enough to settle down for a nap when it was time for me to go. Last nights curry was good too but I was really tired after not sleeping well the night before and so was in bed for 9pm!

Made a shopping list with hubby who will be going to sainsburys on Tuesday all being well. He will get something nice for a meal for valentines day and we are going to have a bottle of wine instead of having the usual takeaway and buying pressies. We both agreed it was nice to look forward to this as a treat rather than just buying wine and ready meals as a matter of course as then it wouldn't be special.

After buying the Harry potter film last week on eBay which we enjoyed on Fri night btw, it is on itv2 today- grrrrr! Still we will watch it again :D

Still looking at handbags on eBay... I will report later whether it was a SFD or not!

Ooh off to check if any of my items are selling...

    Xxx
