  • It does indeed make sense! You inspiration!

Possibly the wrong place to ask, but how do we claim money for washing your uniform at home?

You need to write a letter to your tax office with all your details and all the years you wish to claim for (last 6)
I think it's usually a £100 disallowance of tax per year - so £6oo for 6 years which works out as £120

Afternoon all - its cold and freezing here so the fire is lit and the house is getting cosy. Today was a SFD but I was poorly in the night so have been awake since 1am - I'm *******ered!

Tonights tea is a risotto using ys ham from the freezer, a piece of butternut squash that my friend was going to put in the bin, some lemon juice that I froze from a lemon when I only needed the zest (i then putthe remains in the dishwasher to give an extra nice smell.) and some mushrooms. Left over risotto is both tasty and enough for a free lunch tomorrow - result!

Does anyone else look forward to the cc bills coming through. I am seeing a difference in totals / payments and love how my spreadsheet changes.

    Keep going everyone xx

    Hello all!

7 days in, a whole quarter of the month and we're all still going strong! :j

Well I spent £5.84 today on some food at work (unexpected late stay and was sooo hungry) and a quick nip into mini Tesco for a couple of things - but I only bought exactly what I needed which was all good.

I have spent a bit of time over the last couple of evenings drawing up a budget for the next 2 months, this challenge has really helped me focus my mind on what we need as opposed to want and also having cash and only using that rather than cards to shop. As I am the main breadwinner at home and most of the spends come out of my account, I have only really used the challenge this month for me, but planning on getting OH involved and making it a proper household challenge next month as he could definitely do with a helping hand to get rid of a not huge but very pesky OD that he just can't seem to shift each month.

Off to tweek said budgets and meal plans - I just love all this budgeting malarky, the order and neatness appealsto my ASD side :rotfl:

Hi everyone , just a quickie from me as on my way to bed and realised I hadnt signed in:)

Went to see a friend after work and was given a HM veggie curry to try - well not one to turn down free food (good for budget) I accepted graciously and had it for my tea with rice and it was gorgeous really really good and tasted even better cos I didnt have to pay or cook it:rotfl:Phoned to say thanks and was there any more - unfortunately not as they had all enjoyed it to - cant blame me for trying:rotfl:

Just take care Kat you have to keep well for this debt busting and puddy cat isnt a trained nurse is she/he????

Going to try the pot bake when I have bought some pots, going shopping tomorrow so may try it over the weekend, to go with some fish I seem to have quite a bit of fish in the freezer.

0% CC came through so now I can transfer most of the other CC onto it and get them both paid off without paying too much interest now, and so it will be paid off quicker, cant wait to see it going down more quickly than at present. Cant believe Im getting excited about seeing balances getting smaller:rotfl:

Anyway off to bed, early start tomorrow and then Im off work until next Friday morning - Yay:j

Another, NSD today. Had s quick curry for tea and the Chinese ribs and chicken (to fill up pot) are in the slow cooker for tomorrow. Listed another 3 items on eBay for 99 p and hope that my increased seller allowance comes through soon so I can list more on the weekend. Taken next Friday off to get stuff done in the house and have another good rummage for stuff to sell. Just don't have the time during the week or much on weekends.

Used to be envious of people who can do overtime for the extra money but reading some of the previous post nit so much anymore. Please also make sure you get time off to recharge your batteries.

Still got loads of food and think I'll leave the fruit/veg top up shop till Sunday as we'll be at FIL's over the weekend anyway.

Greetings.....I have good news to share......I lost 3.5lb this week, yes, folks that's right THREE and a HALF pounds ! that makes 8 for 2013.
My weight loss is going slightly better than £s loss at the moment, although I have got everything on to 0% interest, apart from the overdraft and that's what I want to concentrate on this month, I woudl like it to be gone by Easter.
  • Hi there, today was my 4th SFD, so far this month have only spent £24.50 on food. Made a big pot of tomato/red pepper and garlic soup - and my girl made lentil and veg soup - mmmmm very tasty.

Budget for food usually £300 - this month £100
    Total debt - £16,687.86 approx. - Paid so far - £13,156.30 - £350. a month to DMP - DFD 17/01/2019 But I WILL make it sooner!!
  • Morning all,

just popping in after a couple of busy days.

SFDs are going well but my £50 is pretty much gone. I've had probably the most social week I've had since I moved up here so I'm pretty happy about it. I've had 3 lunches out and a couple of drinks and coffees. Doesn't sound like it's gone very far but it was very much needed after such a hermit-like January!

I've had 3 dates this week too - a crap one on Saturday  but 2 yesterday (with the same guy!) and looks like that's going to work out really well. He lives a bit of a distance away but is happy to do stuff on the cheap too so all good.

I finally got out running after almost 2 weeks off with a cold - the cold lasted a few days but I have asthma so it takes a while to shake off. I'm not doing a marathon, mountain or otherwise, but have my first half in 4 weeks time. I'm so excited about it.

Food spend is well under control but I am off to the vets with my non-sleeping mutt today, bloods and urine tests this time so will be an ouchy one.....

I'm loving all the egg fried rice chat - never even thought of making my own! :D HM pizza for dinner :j, and the Scottish tea bag mountain will be reduced significantly today as I am home all day :rotfl:
