I dont think Asda do accept Somerfield vouchers - my store and the 0500 number both say they do NOT. It looks like some people are just getting lucky0

Tried my local asda again last night, and i was told they do not accept any vouchers at all, The only offer they will honour is the £5 off when £30 spent sainsburys voucher, Looks like they have changed their policy on taking vouchers.Steve Gerrard is a GOD0

If you look at the Thread/Threadstater entitled 'Sainsbury Money Off Vouchers' item 67 posted by Marigold 123 it has a copy of an e-mail recieved from Asda re their coupon policy.:j0

Phoned up ASDA customer services again (after an overcharge incident)
They now say they will honour Somerfield Vouchers if you buy the product.
They person I spoke to said their had been confusion because one customer had been spending £50 of vouchers at a time and had cost one store 'thousands of pounds' (own up, who was it?). Thus everyone was told to not accept them, but now they have decided to relax that a little. I have been promised a written copy of their policy. So I will let you know!0 -
Well it wasn't me - not £50 at a time anyway.....
I must be one of the lucky ones in this case as my Asda seems quite happy to accept them against anything I buy from the store.
Still not sure about the 'thousands of pounds' though - as previously mentioned the stores send the coupons to the National Coupon Handling centre and get at least the value of the coupon back in hard cash so I think there may be some fabrication going on by the customer services managment. Of course I could be wrong and Wallmart may be really suffering from the use of a few hundred pounds worth of coupons - somehow I doubt this is the case though.Your really can not beat a good bargain !!!0 -

I was under the impression they do that anyway
. Because they have the Price Match policy, they would treat a Somerfield money-off voucher as if it was an advert for a special deal, if you're buying it (i.e. if Somerfield are selling a wine for £1 less, Asda would price match this...)
I'm sure I got this idea from someone else on this board - haven't tried it myself as don't really shop in Asda anymore.0 -

If the coupons are for marked with somerfield on them how does Asda get the money back. They don't. They take the hit on it.
They take the £3 off £30 spend as it only costs them £3 and not £50 like in the example. So a smaller hit.
And a lot of somerfield coupons are for there own brand products so they would not be accepted in the first place.

I thought I would try putting the Somerfield token in my local Tesco shp last night. I used the self-scan I was busily scanning the tokens, allof which it was accepting & watching my bill drop. Suddenly an alarm was set off and an assistant rushed over and said they dont accept Somerfield ones (where does it say that?) She took a good 10 minutes pressing buttons on the machine and then pulling it apart to get the tokens out. Shame, but I want to know, does the system recognise this from the barcode or is it when you push the voucher in the slot that they can see it on their screen (in which case there is an obvious solution!) Anybody have any answers?0

I cannot believe how much I have saved since first reading this post!!

I was told at customer services that they only took vouchers for products which they stocked. So before going I checked the online shop and only took in the coupons for the products that I could find. However whilst doing my shop I noticed that they stocked 'Ozkleen' products which I had coupons for but they were not listed online.
The following week I got brave and handed over all the coupons fron May issue of Somerfield mag and guess what ALL scanned!!
I got braver still and handed over duplicates....no questions asked.
Further my Asda also take the till generated coupons...you know the ones with the green border with £2.50 off your next £15 spend...I'm lovin' it!!
