    Woohoo!!

Got £30 of my tesco bill last night. I told the guy at the checkout that I was having a competition to see how much I could get off my bill, which he thought was quite amusing.

Got myself a nice new kettle for £26 and £3 off my shopping - not bad!!

I had about £45 of vouchers with me, and he took some and not others. But he took all the somerfield ones, so I went down to somerfield again today and picked up 5 more copies of their magazine - I've been wanting a DVD player for a while and they have loads in stock in Tesco - I reckon I can get quite a nice one for £65 ..... :-)

Do you cut the bit off that says Somerfield on?

I asked at my local Tesco and they said the don't take Somerfield coupons.

I cut off the bit with somerfield written on, and then used them at Tesco (South London) self scan machines last month and they all worked.

However today I used this months Somerfield coupons at Tesco and they didn't work - could it be something to do with all the somerfield coupons being for alcoholic drinks?

I think cutting off the Somerfield logo or details is verging on deception and probably not something to be encouraged.

In any case, Tesco will get wise to this - the coupons are Somerfields and as such can only be redeemed by them, so Tesco are losing out. Sooner or later they'll stop all coupons being used.

Tesco will not lose out as the coupons are returned to the NCH centre and which ever supermarket returns them will be given the money back.

The other supermarkets make the offer of accepting these coupons so they can not complain when some of us take them up on the offer.

Go forth and use the Somerfield coupons is what I say.
Your really can not beat a good bargain !!!

IF what your saying is correct ....... WHY will tesco`s NOT allow you to use coupons with THEIR logo on them unless you buy the product

I phoned the Asda phone line as Randan suggested and was told that Asda will take TESCO and SAINSBURY vouchers but NOT SOMERFIELD. After this, when In store they said they dont take any other stores vouchers I was not brave enough to ask them to phone up! Who has got it right - I cant find the policy on the website - any links?

i wouldn't use Somerfield vouchers if they are not prepared to accept them! cos that is abusing the system as they will lose out, just like the online vouchers (codes), they will stop them at one point!

that s not something we wanna see! so my advice is to stick with the manufacturers coupon/internet voucher!

I called the Asda customer services helpline 0500 1000 55 and they suggested that if I had any trouble with a store not accepting coupons that I should get customer services in the store to call the above number and have the policy explained.

Now I have seen posts in the past where people advise not making a fuss about this issue but I do not feel that clarifying the company policy is making a fuss. If the company policy is to accept the coupons then a particular store should accept them unless they have a very good reason.

To avoid a problem at the checkout or if you are in any doubt - ask at the customer services desk for 'clarification of the coupon acceptance policy' and show them the coupons.

I couldn't agree more, company policy should be implemented. :D
