  • Not sure if Somerfield have realised what is happening because when I picked up my magazine they actually scanned it through the till. It was still free. They are now at the start of the till in my local store not at the end where they used to be.Therefore if you use your Somerfield discount card they will know that you have already had one.

I noticed this, but pretended I didnt and just bagged it. To be fair, in our store they were still placed AFTER the till, so I dont think the staff know either!

Chickened out of trying my luck at Asda - glad I did from what Beastoid said!

On another note - some great recipes in the Somerfield Mag! Not you usual 'buy our sauces' stuff - we did the Salmon and asparagus from last month - very nice!

    Hi All,

One way out would be to get one when you buy a small order in Somerfield, and then don't use your SaverCard!

Noticed this too in our local Somerfield, that is states 'Free, just swipe at the till' - Probably to at least stop people taking 10 or so at a time, rather than checking up if anyone has got more than one over a week or two!

    Cheers

Also remember that you could always pick up an extra copy for your parents, brothers and sisters and granny - I know my relatives always like to read these magazine for the recipes etc. and they never seem too interested in the coupons. Everyone wins - Somerfield get their magazine delivered free of charge to my relative, I get extra coupons for use in Asda and the relatives get a free magazine with loads of interesting things it it to read !!!
Your really can not beat a good bargain !!!
  • I work in a somerfield store. The reason that they are scanning the magazines, is because that some stores are throwing away the magazines.

HO wants to make sure that stores are giving out the magazines.

It also means rather than getting 25boxes in at the beginning of the month and that be it, they can get send more boxes as HO knows the store has run out.

If i see someone take a handfull of magazines i just smile and wonder if they are a member of MSE :)

Find a job you love and you'll never work a day in your life.

MSE'ers are everywhere. MSE'ers must work for all the companies we target.

I knew I was being watched!

The Somerfield Magazine in my area (Derby/Ilkeston) has not been available for the past two months. Nightmare!!!!!!!!!!! They are usually put at the front of the store, but Ive looked everywhere (at the end of the tills, etc).

I get some strange looks when I walk in, dont buy anything and walk out again!

My coupon stock is seriously low.

I do this nearly every day - I always go in to check out the reduced items on the way home from work! There is often nothing decent - but I dont give up!

Asked today at customer services at above store about use of other stores vouchers rather than get a beamer at the till.Very pleasant lady confirmed that they do accept all tokens and vouchers provided they stock the item. She stated that she did it all the time and did I have any extras!!

P.S. She thinks Martin Lewis is wonderful but cannot navigate a PC!
