We moved from paying sky to freesat 2 years ago, best thing I ever did! AND I still only watch 4 or 5 of the channels available!

I'm young enough, and old enough, to remember when we had 4 channels to chose from and if there was nothing on we got off our backsides and did something less boring instead.

Perhaps we should go back to having a handful of channels and getting those channels to show decent tv instead of all the cr4p we get now.

Luxury! My gran had the first TV in the street and there was only the one channel then.

Couldn't agree more with the comment about going out and making your own entertainment though. Aah for the old days....

I'm with virgin, and the only way to get the childrens channels (beyond cbbc/citv) is to have the biggest package, sky have similar issues. We therefore have lots of unwatched channels - you can only watch one at a time (and record another etc) but mostly they go unwatched, and if I could spend less and pick say...20 channels...that would suit us

There is actually quite a few more childrens tv channels on freesat (more music aswell).

I will admit I don't have children, but one of them does show the smurfs quite often :D

  • We have Sky Movies which includes everything else, but we watch the new films every week and make use of the free screenings more or less every week, if we don't go, I get them and give them to my parents. If we paid to go to the cinema would cost us £26 a visit £208 a month plus you Sky give huge discounts on the screenings on a monday like Orange accept it is only £3 a ticket. I'm not sure every subscriber is aware of these deals. If you do subscribe to Sky Movies check out : https://rewards.sky.com/skyloyalty/home/screenings/index.html

How are the people mentioned wasting money? they are paying for subscription channels and watching them for 25% of their viewing, just a lazy copy and paste from a biased news release certainly not a money saving story.

I only use my left leg 50% of the time, I'm not going to stick it on eBay though ;)

Your answer is in the post below. By the way unless you are unfortunate enough to be an amputee or born without one or more legs, or are a stork, your left leg is in use at all times - think about it:D.

I used to have tv/phone/broadband bundle from Virgin Media even though I didn't watch TV or use the landline phone (in one whole year I made maybe 2 phone calls, both to Virgin Media CS). I had all that just for the sake of having it. Complete waste of money.

I was wasting money on pretty much everything else as well (gas, electricity standard tariffs, mobile phone contracts etc.). But then I found this website and my sig now says it all ;)

I've got Freeview for the Tv in the lounge and Freesat in the kitchen it's very rare that you can't find something to watch. I wouldn't dream of paying for extra channels.

Wow what a load of nonsense, the person you quoted stated they were not watching those channels and has it "for the sake of it" the person in the "news story" were paying for a service they were using for 25% of thiere TV viewing.

And if you "think about it" using your weird amputee leg analogy whether these people are viewing the channels or not, they are still there to be recorded, sky plused etc... so they are actually in use 100% of the time as well.

    Let's try again shall we.

I have highlighted the relevant part of Goolies post just in case you missed it, note "had" rather than "has" and "complete waste of money".

As to the last part of your post, you are 100% wrong as you are not using the services you quote until you/anyone else has set them up - the fact that they are there in a passive state does not constitute use.

By the way, you brought legs into the discussion not me.:D:D
