Any suggestions please? [other than moving house!]
Have you tried mobile broadband??0 -
Ok I know not everybody lives close enough to a cineworld, but when you do its a no brainer... surely...
I'm not sure it is. The problem with going to the cinema these days is that you have to listen to the amateur critics, those who would rather discuss the football and the sound and smell of stale popcorn. For nearly all films I'd rather watch at home and if I want to go to the loo I don't even miss any of it!0 -

Would there be any point. I know townies find it hard to believe that there are still places with no mobile signal and a telephone line that is incapable of supporting dial up let alone broadband (or the wonderful high speed internet that the government keep on about)Have you tried mobile broadband??0 -

Give them a call they can cancel it. I had Broadband and TV only before i moved house. The problem is you get a discount by having all 3 so it may work out its actually only costing you £3-4 a month. If you dont use it what so ever then its a free pint down your local if you use it even for incoming calls then its probably worth itI am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Possibly work with others in the area to set up your own wireless internet service provider and put phone lines as well as broadband on that. Some communities have already chosen to do this sort of thing. The main requirement is some way to get line of sight, perhaps via several hops, to an area with good wired connectivity.wpeteraces wrote: »Any suggestions please? [other than moving house!]
Another possible way is to get all who are interested together and seek a collective option that might interest a provider of services.
Try searching for wisp and your area to see if that finds any existing providers, or any nearby who might be interested in expanding if they know there are customers around who might say sign up for a minimum of five years, perhaps paid in advance to cover capital costs.
You might also look to see what any local schools or local authority are doing. You may be able to work with either of those to get service.0 -
I'm with virgin, and the only way to get the childrens channels (beyond cbbc/citv) is to have the biggest package, sky have similar issues. We therefore have lots of unwatched channels - you can only watch one at a time (and record another etc) but mostly they go unwatched, and if I could spend less and pick say...20 channels...that would suit us0

I used to have tv/phone/broadband bundle from Virgin Media even though I didn't watch TV or use the landline phone (in one whole year I made maybe 2 phone calls, both to Virgin Media CS). I had all that just for the sake of having it. Complete waste of money.
I was wasting money on pretty much everything else as well (gas, electricity standard tariffs, mobile phone contracts etc.). But then I found this website and my sig now says it all

I find the movie channels are decent value for money.
There are not many movies that I have to see rightaway.0 -
It's bad enough having to pay £12 a month for the TV licence when I hardly ever use it.0
