    Sainsburys are acting on behalf of British Gas. Prior to moving suppliers I had been a British Gas customer for donkeys years. I've had no credit issues.
    I tried to switch to Sainsburys. I was not aware in their terms and conditions they did a credit check. They asked for a deposit of several hundred pounds.
    To me it makes no sense why I should have been asked to give money up front.

    This seems very wrong...and does it go on your credit record?

    Absolutely, no idea. My boyfriend asked me to phone them and complain, but when I looked at their small print they had made their terms and conditions clear. (I had just switched without looking at the terms and conditions.)
    In the end I just left it, as I didn't think it would get very far.

    Re- Discount Fix February 2016 | Fixed till 29 Feb 2016. I've just been trying to find the terms and conditions but can't find it.

    I don't know whether anyone else can find the small print for this tariff. It should really be available before one take a leap!
  • I hope this is the right place for a question on Sainsbury's Energy. I tried to switch to the Cheap Energy Club deal today, but since I moved from the USA last year, it wouldn't let me proceed as I don't have 3 years of address history in the UK. Helpfully, Sainsbury's Energy gave me a call to find out if I had any questions but they couldn't help me sign up for the deal as it's exclusive to MSE.

    Can anyone from MSE-land help me switch into this deal? PM me please!

    No they did not take a deposit because, I decide not to go with them after their request for money upfront. I was within the cancellation period time.

    you are wrong;
    check in a month or so your credit file and you will find out credit search performed on you and they will, no doubt, report so called conduct of your account to CRAs (I think EDF is the only big supplier not reporting to CRAs, yet...) ;
    it is in their terms and conditions and you have agreed to T&Cs by ticking the box

    If you use the search button you will find more than one person who has had a credit check/ deposit request for Sainsburys energy.
    Since Discount Fix February 2016 | Fixed till 29 Feb 2016 is being so heavily promoted it would be good to see the terms and conditions as well.

    It's wrong that you can't find the terms and conditions for this energy deal.
