I've just switched to Sainsbury today or started the process using the MSE Energy Club.
One thing, while using the energy club, nowhere during the process did I get asked for the date the switch is required.
I'm with British Gas Fixed May 2015 which has a £30 early exit switch fee so I don't want the switch to occur until June 1.
Will the switch happen earlier and if so will I be charged by BG for early switch?????It's your money. Except if it's the governments.0 -

I really should have read this thread before initiating my switch.
MSE give Sainsbury as cheapest but shouldn't they refer to this thread?
Sainsbury sound a solid name?

Remember, all you see here are the complaints, my switch from Flow to SE went through pretty painlessly, still waiting for my £30 cashback and final bill from Flow but everything else seems to be OK.
The critical thing seems to be that you HAVE to phone in your initial meter reading, you can't do them online, and they don't tell you that!0 -

I just switched last night, not using this site tho.
To be honest didn't know they did switches.
My switch to BG took over 6 months, hope my switch to Sainsburys/BG goes a lot smoother.
You do get 2 weeks cooling off, so I guess you should be ok,and not get charged the £30, as you will still be with your old supplier until May.0 -

Hi Slinga, Unfortunately suppliers don’t let you choose a specific date for your switch (great idea though that may be possible in the future once smart meters have been fully rolled out). The energy regulator, Ofgem, has put rules in place which means suppliers aren’t allowed to charge exit fees if you’re in the last 49 days of your fix. As you’re currently within this period you should be able to submit a switch now and avoid exit fees. Hope that helps

Hi Archna, uswitch has a collective switch with E.ON. Is this on CEC's whole of market comparison? If not, CEC is not whole of market comparisons.
If E.ON allows you to switch to another E.ON tariff if prices fall in the next twelve months without paying the exit fees this could be a good deal for Sainsburys Energy customers.

We switched to Sainsbury's after reading MSE's big switch. all seemed OK and we got our letter to confirm our dual switch. The electricity switched to them late Feb BUT the gas is still with EDF? I have emailed, phoned and complained but nothing happens. The staff on the phone are very polite and helpful but still nothing happens. I have spoken to EDF and they tell me that the switch to Sainsbury's gas hasn't been initiated yet!!!!! It is now the end of April. We did receive a letter from Sainsbury's telling us the the switch over would be on the 16th March!!! We hold our heads in our hands0
