    17th March updates:


    - Just had a call from someone at BG (at least I hope he was!) to confirm the address and that they are now my gas & electricity suppliers, but he could not tell me anything about the on-line side of things.
    - Logged into my BG account and that seemed to confirm that they are the suppliers, but still could not get any details of the state of the accounts for the individual services.
    - Weirder bit is that I am now shown as being £81 in credit although neither of the bank accounts (I initially selected the wrong one, but then phone BG to confirm that I wanted it taken from an account with another bank) from which that money could have come does show any sign of that money having been taken from it - so has BG "given" me £81? (I do hope so :D)
    - Then checked into my SP account which is still live for the moment, and that seemed to say that they are no longer my supplier - but there is as yet no sign of any refund from them in the bank account from which they previously DD'd the money!


    I can only hope that things are gradually getting sorted out at both SP & BG - but I will have to wait and see (and it may take "some time")

    That sounds like my experience - see post#218. I looked at my BG on-line account on the 14/3 and I was £100+ in credit. Further checks(on 14/3) showed it was paid by DD on 16/3. That transaction showed up on my bank statement on 16/3. so I was in credit at least 2 days before anything was taken from my bank.

    Assumed a switch these days to British Gas would be simple.

    So far it has been farcical. I seem to have the familiar problem that every time I submit a meter reading I get a reply to say it hasnt worked. I replied to the texts, and tried several times online. I called and was on hold for half an hour before being cut off.

    We've asked British Gas to verify its processes around opening meter readings. The feedback it has provided to us is that there aren't any live issues outside of the ones commented on a few weeks ago:
    - opening meter readings cannot be submitted via the app
    - opening meter readings cannot simply be completed in your online account, you must use this special form for your first reading - https://www.britishgas.co.uk/OpeningMeterRead/Anonymous-read/Entry/
