Are you due to receive some form of compensation from Scottish Power? And SP is refusing to go along with that? The Energy Ombudsman Service is as toothless as a quivering jellyfish but like all bureaucratic institutions has a high opinion of itself and doesn't ever like to think anyone's making a fool out of it.Give the Ombudsman Service 14 days to sort everything out before filing a formal complaint about it to the Energy Minister. Don't bother dealing with Spanish Power or attempting to chase up a CEO who knows perfectly well the calibre of the business he's paid handsomely to run as well as the institutionalized behaviour that characterises its operations. .

MovingForwards said:@Catscradle lodge a complaint via email, explain in bullet point format what the problems are, all the advice you were provided by their advisors, the meter reader comments, say you've called X amount of times etc and tell them you want it resolved within x amount of weeks as you're unable to move to another supplier and it's costing you etc. Do not let them fob you off or close the complaint.u do, isn't a quick process, but you have to lodge the complaint and wait X weeks before escalating it to the ombudsman.1

I was changed to Scottish Power by Ofgem when the company I was with Tonik collapsed. I made the mistake of stopping with them, as I had been conned by them in 2018, didn't think it could possibly happen again but it did! They put my monthly payment up from £109 to £167, then said I owed double what I owed. So I changed company, they then 'phoned three times a morning for me to make payment, every letter they sent had a different figure on. The person "Charlotte" who said she was handling my case, disappeared! I was told to 'phone certain Nos. who said it was the wrong Dept.. So after making a formal complaint to them, I informed them I was taking it to the Ombudsman. I had already made an offer of payment on figures given by "Charlotte" Never got a reply!
What a waste of time!, Scottish Power once again issued a different figure to the Ombudsman. When the Ombudsman had investigated it, they came up with a different figure, which Scottish power had to agree and accept!! Did they??
Contacted Ofgem and complained, I said Scottish Power, should be shut down. Ofgem weren't interested. Who do you have to complain to, to get some action against this company.
Now Scottish Power have sent me a letter from a debt collector.

Hi not sure if this is the correct forum thread so apologies.
With Scottish power and wait times on phone are exhausting and their online app via chat is auto response with no relevance for my enquiry.
So my question is.
We are on the "Fixed Price August 2024 YM1 Online"
Received an email with the following included and seeking some clarification.
Quote from emailI've checked the T&C's and uncertain and want to know with any of the impending price hikes, if any of my charges will be affected.
"Your fixed energy prices remain the sameThe new October price cap level for customers on standard variable and default tariffs will be announced by Ofgem, the energy regulator, on 26th August. The good news is, as you've chosen a fixed price tariff, your prices are protected until 31 August 2024, helping to give you peace of mind around your energy costs."
So in short we pay currently £225 per month and have done since setting up last sept 2021.
Let's say we used exactly the same power usage what additional charges will we face if any?
I'm asking so we can at least try and understand the impending impact of any on our budgets.
Any help much appreciated as the email received today seems to imply we will continue to pay the £225 till August 2024 assuming usage remains the same or similar. Is this correct? If this is the case a huge relief to us and all on this type of tariff. If not then what factors of the billing will increase?
Thanks all0 -
If you use more energy you will pay more at the same unit price. If you use less you pay less.0

Your monthly fixed direct debit amount is not your energy bill.
Changing your monthly fixed direct debit amount is not the same as changing your energy price.
The price cap is not the maximum total that you can pay, it is the maximum you can be charged for each unit. For you, the charge for each unit is not changing until August 2024. If you use more, you will pay more.

Can Anyone tell me what the current tariff rates for their standard online one is right now? I know prices are high, but they've made mistakes to my rates before in the past and had them correct it.
