I am surprised you stayed with them for so long and between house moves!

After the faulty electric meter saga, I finally get a replacement, followed by a bill (which I think is a little high, but at this stage, I really don't care and want rid). I have just started a switch from Scottish Power to Eon after I validated with Eon that our new electric meter was registered on the database.

Hopefully only 2-3 more weeks with SP. Although I refused to setup a DD with Scottish power as I expect this wont be the last I hear from them after the switch and I truly expect them to !!!! up and attempt to bill me. Keeping as much evidence I can of communications and will happily take them to court if they try and be silly about it.

Ben,I have heard some bad stories about Scottish Power but yours is appalling.

Both my Mum and me have been with them for several years and have had the odd niggle but our accounts are running fine now.

Why don't you contact Watchdog ? Last series they had a piece about them , S P promised things were getting sorted and problems resolved. This is obviously not the case.Once an individual's story is told ,on any company, things nearly always seem to get sorted out properly.

Worth a try, they were asking this week for anyone with a problem company to contact them, and you definitely won't be the only one !
  • Hi all,
With reference to my feedback,i am still in dispute and some 30 emails and approx 50 calls made we are now at deadlock.i really do think that SP are not from this planet,it is now in the hands off the ombudsman and it is the first stages.
a short recap is Sp claim we owe £65.00 on final account ,we received this demand approx 3 months after the switch to a humane new supplier.we moved 0n 12th june 2014 and they have just kept saying we want the money.i have had debt collectors /senior customer services and untold calls and emails demanding the payment.they owe us approx £800 in falsified bills,i have missed i meter reading submittal and i have a record of it. their bills only confirmed they received one reading hence higher estimates for them and then surprise surprise the credit after Decembers bill £600 vanished? their answer when questioned is i must of owed it to the previous supplier .i was wise enough to print a statement off before i called them, when i went back to the bill online to look again i was locked out and could not check it. they did this every time i had a query.i have 99% of the bills and with their constant amending of statements i have 4-5 bills for the same period and a vast difference in amounts.i call that fraud in my world, even the debt collectors they employed to recover the false amount they wanted agreed with me too .they said they are closing my debt and passing it back to Sp and no case to answer.Sp have now employed the same company again, unbelievable really.our fixed tariff ended on March 31st 2014 and in June for the final bill the charged £300 in cancellation charges, what a joke.so when i requested they money owed the amended the bill to double the amount of gas and electricity i may use in the coldest period and highest bill.well double that ,we are talking about April/May /Junes bill perhaps it was about -30oc at that time and i slept for 3 months for gods sake.i will stop there as i now have to check every bill and problem i have had with Sp and then send it to the Ombudsman to recover.i think they have tried everything trick from the Magic circles book of tricks/fraud?:then we have been over the whole procedure 3 times around now.if i had not received this demand on my final bill i would never know how much money they have made vanish whilst in credit, sheer greed and as they allegedly have lost all their customer records from the alleged systems up dates on the website they just play dumb and dumber.i was told once send us the bill to prove they owe me it but what they do is ammend the bill even more in their favour.they show the billing date which is right but instead of the corresponding last date in their email they put the billing date down and lose the previous bill.do they really think that we are all that thick and cant see through their fraud.i have an unbelievable task now with what should be only 4 quarterly bill for the year,i have at least 20 to go through and just to confuse us more they started ammending days of billing periods .for example in a month period say for arguments sakeJuly 1st to 31st,one bill could be 10 days, another 18 days but inc the previous 10 days by overlapping it say 3 days so 1 -7th and it just goes on and on 28 days 24 days 31 days etc. i think the only way i can do it as by making an a3 spreadsheet listing every bill, reading given or not, rate charges, money paid by dd etc etc. i did think i would check over the whole year ref to gas and electric and compare payments made by dd.but i cant as they guessed the bills and lost the credit that should have carried over.perhaps i may need 2-3 a3 spreadsheets by the end of it,every time i look in to a bill to try and make sense i find another sneaky thing they have done.i will keep you all posted and at this rate in about a years time before i have been full cirle 3 more times in their complaints procedure.good luck to the rest of you and i suggest you take up meditation or something to stop yourself going insane.they even threatened black listing the house. well if they were near Reading you could add and blue to their threat also removing listing and thats what they will be looking like if i saw them.thats how much they get to you.so much for a short reply and its the tip of the iceberg regarding my complaints i had mentioned.

On the 31st August 2014 I left SP, August 2015 i get an SP demand for over £400 owing when i owed nothing ,They sent further emails and phoned me to repay them threatening me with extra charges and affecting my credit rating '.I asked for a final bill which showed i was over £400 in CREDIT.Further checking showed SP continued to Take monthly direct debits from September 2014 to February 2015.The Utility Ombudsman told me I must contact them through SP not directly. I raised a complaint with SP and eventually i got an Email telling me SP did a bank transfer in April without advising me and my wife banked a later check in May which cleared what was owed. I draw your attention because the SP customer services are appalling and useless. One can be held over 15 minutes before speaking on the phone with different people people answering each time or emailing with misleading information. The left hand clearly doesn't know what the right hand is doing. As an over 80 housebound pensioner this caused considerable unnecessary anxiety and distress ,

The above story was the entire reason I didn't agree to do a DD with SP as I knew I was leaving.

My account is now showing as closed on both gas and elec, but no final bill as of yet....

Slowley and surley, I have switch! It appears I am now fully with EON!

Gas was sorted last week, I made a payment and that was done. Electricity lagged behind but I received a bill late Monday for the electric, £22.88 (after some rebates....).

I spotted this yesterday and intended to sort it today.

At 3am this morning I receive the following email from Scottish Power:

You must make your final payment now

    Dear Mr SplanK

This means that if you do not make a payment of £22.88 or set up a repayment arrangement now, we will take further action to collect your arrears and add fees to your balance to reflect the costs of collection.

You can make your payment online now or call us on our 24 hour payment line on 0800 001 5115. Nice way to treat your customers. Even though I am leaving, and at the moment have no intension in going back, I could be a future customer if things change, however their continuation to really p**s me off just pushed me further and further away...

  • I contacted Scottish Power after installing Solar pv panels in June. They looked at my account & found I was £360 in credit. Ok, could I have a refund please I said. No not until we have a meter reading. So I read out my numbers. Oh! We now owe you£492.62p.
So could you send me a refund of £400 & leave £92 credit (as its winter the pv solar cells don't work as well) & lower my bills by £20. I have waited one week for the money to arrive by 'backs' payment. This morning I rang S/Power to ask why haven't I received my money. I was informed that the larst person I talked to authorised payment but didn't process the refund. I was informed that the payment has been authorised & you will have a e-mail in the next hour. I waited for two hours before going out. Tonight after finishing dinner I still hadn't received an email. So, buy-buy! Full refund is now dew.
  • Worst customer service I have ever experienced.

15 months living in my property and not a single energy bill. I have contacted SP on numerous occasions to set up my account, however it's as if they aren't interested in taking my money.

Customer service team seem clueless as to their own processes and any offers of following up on my issue have been promised but not delivered.

Complaints team were also very unhelpful in responding to my very lengthily email which detailed my issue and the steps I had taken, simply telling me to contact the customer service team to resolve the issue.

    Excellent power company.

Their current fixed price deal - November 2016 - is just about the cheapest deal around and there is no exit charge. They have improved their website over the past year or so and it's now good.

Whichever company you are with you might have a problem. As far as I can see, Scottish Power is no better and no worse in this respect than any of the others.
