Hi
I switched to nPower on October 16th using Cheap Energy Club. I was very careful to type in the correct details. I've done this sort of thing before.
I've heard nothing from them, and am still shown as 'switching in progress' on Cheap Energy Club.
HELP! I'm in Energy Purgatory!0 -
thedr - seriously, I would cancel while you can.
I think the cooling off period only starts when you have been sent a letter/contract so you still are within your rights0 -

HELP! I'm in Energy Purgatory!
I also switched via CEC and have a had an email the other day to say I was switching the next day and to provide readings.
I have not received a letter or a contract etc.
update: Just registered online. Still no contract but everything else seems ok, correct tariff etc.0 -
Sounds like my 11-week predicted switching time with no communication might be about standard for NPower.
I finally got through on the phone so it's bye bye Npower and hello Ovo. I expect my gas account will follow my electricity one as soon as my fixed period (with £30 penalty) ends in March.
Fingers crossed that NPower don't do anything to screw up the switch.Saving for deposit: Finished! :j
House buying: Finished!
Next task: Lots and lots of DIY0 -
I signed up with nPower in August via the Energy Club, I have had endless problems with them since I started the switching progress. Firstly it took over 9 weeks to just switch my electricity but as for my Gas I am still with my previous supply who are putting up the prices.
I have had to put multiple complaints in with them to see why my Gas has not been switched and to inform them that they never sent me a contract of supply.
It is nearly the 56 day threshold of my first complaint regarding the switching of Gas I just hope they can sort it soon as I know if I leave them they will mess something up again.0 -
I originally applied to switch both Gas and Electric to Npower back in April. No probs with Electric, DD set up and running. Gas? Still waiting. I've paid nothing for gas since my final bill from British Gas back in May - apparently due to problems they are having with their billing system. They can't tell me what I owe them so far, or when my DD will finally be set up.
The case is with their "complaints department". I'm trying to save money for when I eventually get the bill, and they have implied that I will get a discount. They periodically send me a letter saying they are still dealing with it (the latest one with a £20 high street voucher in).
Difficult situation - if I'm going to get a decent discount then the longer this goes on the better but I don't like the uncertainty.
I could switch but I don't know if it would work! I suspect if I do that I won't get any sort of discount on what I've used since switching. That's if they even know..... Who knows, maybe i'm in sort of gas bill limbo and will never be charged....0 -
What annoys me most of all is the fact that Npower have started taking direct debit payment from my bank account before they have even sent the meter readings I submitted to my old supplier. :mad:0

However nPower have only asked for an electricity meter reading. I have tried contacting them but it says it could be 10 days before anyone gets back to me. I am worried they are only switching the electric and I will lose the savings for the dual fuel tariff.
The same thing is happening with me...I'm not sure what to do now, tried to sort it but no joy, they're hopeless.0 -
I have created a petition against Npower at the government website. Perhaps if we want better change, we would need more signatures. I would appreciate if you take a look here.

Signed.....
Perhaps you would like to sign mine, inspired by Npower, but with similar experience on switching, this covers them all:

Similarly depressed by being on the end of such poor treatment.0 -
Have just posted in another thread but have to agree they are the pits. Applied to switch 25/10 but 5 weeks later still nothing received (they say 7-10 days on their website, although they do have details on their system They also fail to reply to emails.
I read today they now have the worst customer ratings. I thought edf were bad.
Now managed to cancel it. Phew! Going with Ovo.
They should be taken to the cleaners by the regulator. I am not holding my breath though
Please advise how you managed to cancel - by phone, post or e-mail?
I also applied on 25 October via Cheap Energy Club but have only received the same e-mail twice (a month apart) asking me to confirm my e-mail address.
Can anyone confirm if the cooling-off period applies from when you made the application via the Cheap Energy Club or from when you receive a contract?0
