The Co-op are unbelievable in their incompetence as having applied for a change of tariff to March 2017 on 16th February they eventfully sent me a welcome letter on the 2nd April which said I was changed to the December 2016 tariff backdated to the 16th February. After I pointed out their error I today received a new letter saying I was now go to changed to the March tariff but starting from the 5th April 2016. After I again got through on the phone it seems that all is ok and it will be backdated to February but as they now have to write the letters manually this is causing the mistakes in the letters especially when they use the wrong template letter.0

I've been with Coop since 2013. I have 2 electric meters, used to have 3, and to move suppliers is a nightmare. So left one meter with coop, basically it seemed easier. I've now, fingers crossed, moved both electric and gas to British Gas - partly via Energy Club.
Coop changed their computer system last year and my account didn't transfer smoothly.
We are now sending emails back and forth re the final balance on my bill. I sent simple spreadsheet showing payments and charges, subtract one from t'other and hey presto you owe me money, about £800. All the figures I took from my online account with them. I have letters\statements from them with these self same figures on. They send back complicated spreadsheet with no logic to it and say I owe them £1000+. They are insisting on using adjustments from when their computer system changed. But why? Is charges less payments too easy?
This has been going on since November 2015.
I am logging and filing everything. At first I was really stressed by their letters and emails saying I owe them so much but having analysed all their and my figures I understand what I owe and just keep telling them. Maybe, just maybe, someone with a little bit of sense will see the logic of a simple sum but I'm not holding my breath.0 -
Same as every one else it seems.
Never respond to email query's, if you telephone they do not action the things they state they will nor leave any trace of the conversation on your file. Just relentlessly ignore you.
I requested a change to a certain tariff ending in December, they got back to me and stated they have instead unilaterally decided to put me on a tariff with a lock in to the following March. Disgraceful.
Now fighting for my exit fees to be refunded, even though I have it in writing from them they would not take any they took them any way.
Also try getting any credit from you account back once you have left, utter nightmare.
Awful company, go any where else, anywhere.0 -
I'm also having problems trying to get back the money they owe me , I was told I would get a final bill no longer than 31 days after switching to British Gas.
I can understand peoples reluctance to switch suppliers having to encounter these problems every time , switching from FU was a nightmare.0 -
I regularly switch energy suppliers, so am accustomed to whats involved. The switch to the co-op however has been such an experience! So far it has taken seven weeks, five emails and three long phone calls. The gas eventually switched over a week ago, but this week I received an email asking for my electricity details yet again. I finally sent a snotty email back say that having given the details five times, maybe they should be able to sort the issue by now? They even asked for a photograph of my meter!
Two days after my email they decided that it was a mistake and they had already switched me the day before! So my advice, unless you like listening to inane music regularly for 15 minutes....STAY CLEAR of the co-op. This was only stage one, no idea what the service will be like from now on!0 -
Do not join co-ops energy!!
Their billing staff is so incompetent. they can not bill me accurately. and the figure does not add up.
3 weeks ago i received a letter saying my account balance is £1505. which gave me a shock after paying dd 45.89 monthly. I have looked at the they have estimated meter reading was double my current meter reading.
so i gave them current meter readings to give me an accurate bill. Guess what is new bill ?
they curried the wrong balance forward. made up a previous meter reading which does not correspond to any previous bill , and added some extra bill. when i phone them and tell about this mistake. they say they are going to look at it again so the regenerated last 20 month bill. and bill me for there is a current balance is £524.
guess what. this bill is also wrong.0 -
I've been with the Coop through all their earlier computer problems and it was a bit of hassle but no big deal - however my current attempt to move from August 2016 tariff to March 17 tariff has resulted in a larger, not smaller direct debit, despite what the application said. They were clearly having computer problems again - there was a warning on the telephone line when I called that this is the case and the rep I spoke to was having difficulty accessing my account. They could either keep it the same or transfer me to someone in their direct debit section who had more power - and then they promptly cut me off. I despair! Not recommended at allDownshifted
September GC £251.21/£250 October £248.82/£250 January £159.53/£2000 -
More of the same..
Applied online to go on the March 2017 online tariff and this was acknowledged BUT now got a letter stating an increase in Direct debits and that I CHOSE to go on the Pioneer Variable tariff!!...NOT TRUE.
Eventually spoke with Customer Services and the person i spoke to was very apologetic and will get it sorted.
I am not holding my breath. If it is not sorted i will go with another Company.0 -
I've been with Co-op since early 2015 and really like them. Admittedly the website is woeful but you can't have everything. I've found them easy to contact. They've adjusted my DD on request. Their newsletter includes the latest tariff and switching is easy. There are a couple of very slightly lower tariff but I prefer the company I know and who really seem to care about their customers. I simply don't understand their low-rating !0
