3 weeks since requesting a switch to the co-op via CEC, heard nothing since.
Website states I will receive my welcome pack 'within days' of applying which is obviously total rubbish. Emailed customer services 5 days ago just to check I was registered, but to date no reply whatsoever.
CEC need to investigate what's going on!

My switch from npower went 'fine' (started mid-Jan and completed end of February).

The account management website was basic (compared to npower at least) but functional - however then they went and changed it!

Can't seem to complete any useful action online, not even submit a meter reading...

Unfortunately Co-Op Energy are having a few issues following a recent system change. For full details take a look at today's MSE news story.

After doing a search comparison on this site co-op energy was one of the cheapest so switched my energy to them beginning of March. Wish I hadn't as now I see EDF is cheaper and can't move to them as will have to pay £60 exit fees. However my main gripe is that I have not heard a thing from Coop and have just rung them and they say I will be with them on the 2nd of May. Got some story about slowness of their systems which is also reported on this site. But as I pointed out to them they have caused me to pay more money with ovo as they put me on their stadard tariff whilst waiting for this switch over. It should have happened on the day my ovo tariff ended over a month ago. I think its deplorable the amount of time it takes to switch from one company to another. I wish I had not gone with them and if its not too late as I am not a customer yet i will move to EDF which is far cheaper. £Co-op 143 EDF £128

Complain to co-op, when they mucked up my transfer to them a few year back costing me more money, they paid me a credit of my excess costs to the old supplier.

Slowly but surely making progress with co-op and their online fiasco. Now I am in touch with online team who have some limited capability to do something about ones online account. Both myself and elderly father had same issues. Status today is online accounts are working but recent bills are archived which is a pain. Theoretically we can request them and they post them in 7 days. Now we will see if that works. So 3 phone calls 10 emails and about 4 weeks we have achieved a status that should have taken a few clicks. Emails seem to work better than phone calls to customer service as you can send the odd screen shot.
    However some limitations still....
Historical Meter readings not available online.
Ability to switch tariff when already with coop online not possible. In the event that you do try it it creates a new account it seems which I found causes no end of havoc. Although I notice their switch site allows you to compare and switch co-op to co-op still it seems. Now they claim they are considering to add this option.
Another limitation unless you can get hold of a bill even your current tariff information is not visible.

All in all a total shambles but then the price is not bad and they are trying and polite and apologetic and things have moved forward a small step in the last month. Also they have a freephone customer service number so while you listen to music and "how you can see it all online" they are at least paying for your call.

Just a quick update from me.

We've had problems with Co-op Energy since last August/Sept when they just randomly stopped taking our direct debit. It's not like it was ever cancelled, either. Anyway, emails ignored, emails promising it had been fixed etc, we've spoke to call handlers, supervisors etc all to no avail. We haven't paid them a cent since last year.

Co-op Energy now say on the phone we're 16 quid in credit. The online billing says we're 56 pounds in credit ... but we haven't paid them for months and months and months. Ridiculous. No doubt their final bill will have figures plucked out of thin air.

So we've cut and run and have now switched to EDF. I can't stress enough how bad Co-op Energy is right now, dismal.
  • I left Co-Op on Feb 26th and still awaiting a refund after "Missing last readings". If you are having trouble getting this readings try raising an ADR Dispute!

I started a switch 16 weeks ago, I still have no access to online billing and no DD is setup. EDF seem to know nothing about the switch that Co-op has said is completed.

I have outstanding complaints with co-op that are being ignored, when I asked to leave them early with no penalty because they have breached the contract they said no.

They are the worst energy company I have ever dealt with, all I can say is avoid.

I left Co-op Energy in December but for some unknown reason (think I must've been really tired that day) I provided an incorrect reading to both Co-op and E.on when I transferred. E.on have been brilliant and sorted everything out so that my records with them are correct but Co-op owe me about £94 for my overpayment at account closure which they refuse to admit to or pay back. I've been trying to get an answer from them since mid-March but their system change seems to have rendered them worse than useless. If this had happened in the company I used to work for then heads would have rolled!

I have phoned (no point, they couldn't access records for closed accounts), emailed (told there is no refund due despite my full account of what happened), written via snail mail (threatening Ombudsman action, no response after 1 month), emailed to chase response to snail mail (ignored). I have photographs of my meter, have worked everything out so that they have a full breakdown of everything, yet I cannot get a response from them.

I am especially disappointed that this is the Co-operative as I've always believed them to be one of the few remaining "good guys" in a world full of unethical businesses. I've sadly been proven wrong.
