    Hi
Anybody else who transferred to Co-op Energy at the beginning of the year still not 100% transferred yet?

We moved from OVO after reading MSE back in Jan 2015 , 5 months on and still only electric has been passed across, OVO haven't closed our account (still waiting on gas readings they say!!)

Its makes a mockery of the moving suppliers that MSE keep promoting - by the time weve 100% moved we'll prob want to move again , but at this snails pace its hardly worth it!!

The co-op will not pass any meter reading to Ovo until after they have begun to supply you.

Have you contacted the Co-op to obtain an explanation for the delay?
  • I am in a very similar situation - the gas seems to have been handed over to Co-op, but not the electricity.

I sent a mail to the Co-op, but no reply.

I had to push the Co-op to take my meter readings on the transfer day (I took some photos of the meters), and had to push them again to set up the DD.

I am now rather apprehensive about the whole move, and settling up with the outgoing supplier.

There is another thread here with the most horrendous stories, and I just hope that things will settle down.

There are several threads about the Co-op's woes, and I am not the only one who is beginning to think that the Co-op's bodged website replacement has resulted in the loss of many or most of their customer records.

Hopefully, you are not in the unfortunate position of having money owed to you by the Co-op.

It seems to me that the best thing to do is to make no payments at all to the Co-op, and wait for them to contact you with some kind of detailed bill. My daughter switched to Co-op last September, and all was well until a couple of months ago. They have failed to respond to several emails, and last month my daughter reclaimed her DD payment under the DD guarantee - she has not yet been contacted by Co-op in order to chase the missing payment. According to the new website, my daughter's account shows a credit of £394, but this figure is wildly wrong (in my daughter's favour!).

A little while ago, the Co-op's User Guide stated that their IT problems would be solved by the end of May - that's today...

It's well worth having a detailed history of meter readings and payments made, so that you can calculate for yourself what your energy costs should be - it doesn't really matter who supplies it, just so long as only pay for what you use.

I honestly think that the Co-op are a bunch of crooks.

Today I noticed that the DD for my EDF supplied energy had changed so to see why I log into my account and it says a switch is in progress. I've called EDF and get hold of someone in under 10 minutes and he says that the switch Co-op claimed to have started in February and completed in April has only just been lodged with EDF in the past few days by Co-op.

I have asked EDF to raise an objection against this switch as I have told Co-op that they are not to switch my energy about 6 weeks ago as they had failed to perform under the contract, just it appears they have ignored my instructions.

I've now sent a further email to Co-op telling them to cancel the switch but if they continue then they will have an unhappy time of it as I'll be making more in compensation than they will ever get out of me for energy!

Just seen this thread after starting my own, Co-op energy has been awful so far, ive still not been able to log onto my account - so havent a clue where i am with them (after joining in Jan!!) - Ovo havent closed my a/c with them yet - its been nearly 6 months and i have only paid £68 to co-op in all that time - Im £58 in credit with ovo - apparently its the middle man whose holding up confirming meter readings??? The whole process is a joke, I think MSE should investigate, transfer should be done and dusted in a week - not 6 months - the systems a joke.

Have tried to call Coop today but have given up - 15 mins is my max wait!!

PS - no cheque for £30 from MSE yet either!!

I signed up 10/01/2015 with Co-op - moved from OVO - I have only paid 1 DD since then to Co-op , Im £58cr with OVO but bills not finalised yet! Havent been able to log into Co-op yet either!!

So much for MSE telling us to switch!!

I've lost patience with Co-op Energy. I started the switch from Scottish Power in mid January and it went downhill from there on. Apparently the Co-op started providing my gas and electricity in mid-March but never managed to tell me. No information, no meter readings, no access to the online account, and no response to very many emails, so I've started a formal complaint and am moving away from them. I like the whole Co-operative movement idea, and I do some banking with them, but, as a far as I can see, the energy side is just hopelessly chaotic and disfunctional.

That's exactly what i have done and i have already received new documentation from my new supplier. Complaint is already done too.

I just hope they play ball with me and take the correct amount from when the time comes. I tried to cancel the direct debit but the bank can't do anything as they've yet to take the first one and i started with them end of March and given them d/debit details twice now. Bloody shambles and there is no sign of improvement as far as i can see.

And, presumably, no bills and no direct debit payments? Keep a record of your meter readings and energy consumption, and put the money into a dedicated savings account. If and when Co-op Energy ask for payment, then you will be prepared. Are Scottish Power still asking you for money?
