What is the reason you do not want me to post my account number here? It seems a very strange request, but obviously you have a reason.
Me, I would facilitate a supplier in trying to resolve my complaint about £1000 overcharge. By trying to make SP jump through hoops to your tune, you are playing a mugs game. You are giving them a lot of excuse to ignore you.

I am interested to read of how problems posted here get resolved. But we get feedback all too rarely. How yours is resolved would be interesting. But please spare us the nonsense of making SP resolve it here on line. It is not interesting.
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'
• Thanks Valhaller.

First of all, why did Scottish Power's rep not state the reason - and is it the reason? I agree it could be, but he is strangely silent. I speculated about this. I thought maybe they would not want it posted in case somebody working a fiddle in their accounts department would see it and realise they needed to cover up a bit - but our local rep (Linda at the time) some years ago insisted that nobody does anything dishonest in Scottish Power! So obviously it cannot be that.....

As to asking them to jump through hoops - I have spent many years trying to get them to resolve the matter and all they have done so far is ignore everything I have said and gone on sending me reminders and threatening letters. No attempt whatever at giving a breakdown of accounts or any other reasoned argument has shown itself. So I thought I ought to try something different in case it gets some genuine action.

There is some more stuff on this subject in another thread about 'Scottish Power's direct debit - beware' (a title something like that).

You will see the the Scottish Power rep has said he will not respond anymore without you emailing him which I agree. He is being professional about this. If you really want this resolved I suggest you do this.

Do you really need this answering. THINK!!!!!
• We have some interesting things going on here.

It seems odd to describe Scottish Power rep's behaviour as being 'professional'. Presumably you mean he or she is doing his or her best to not discuss the matter publicly - which is how they have got away with things so far.

CRISPIANNE3 I must say that like everybody else I don't always think, and as I was once in business and did nearly all transactions (maximum only a few thousand pounds) on trust over the phone without anything going wrong I am both shocked and surprised by the idea that somebody would want to steal the identity of somebody who is being badgered by Scottish Power for largish sums of money - and who can therefore be assumed to not have no creditworthiness.

There may be a way forward: I could send Rep my account number and then publish all further correspondence on this forum. But there may be logistical problems there - I do not always have access to either my post or a scanner.

My main idea is to point out a dishonesty that they have successfully covered up so far by ignoring my questions and demanding money, but if it was public they would have to respond to the questions in a rational and proveable way.

I think everybody should know about it.

spcustomer I cannot answer any of your questions without looking at your account. I strongly suggest for your security that you do not post your account number here but in order to move this matter forward that you e-mail onlinecomplaints@scottishpower.com

You are of course free to post any response that we send here if you decide to do so.

However until you do send us an e-mail with your details we will be unable to respond any further.

I am the official company representative of Scottish Power. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. Every company will only discuss cases in detail off-line - it is perfectly reasonable for both parties. It is up to the consumer to continue to summarise any developments (and only polite for them to do so - it is always annoying when readers are left in the lurch). BUT - a concise sentence or three is all that is needed - scanners are not a prerequisite.

You really ought to have initiated a more formal winding up before now - either a formal complaint or small claim in court.

One thing you have not clarified - is the overpayment only that you were charged E7 prices where that was not of use to you? If so any refund is entirely discretionary.
• Thanks Nada.

If I do not publish the whole of what SP say that will leave them in a position to make proviso this and that, so maybe I should find a scanner I can borrow from time to time. I have yet to scan ones I have already had from them ignoring the main issue and demanding money, and the 'unless within seven days' type are so numerous that I think I will leave them all out for the moment.

I see SP's David has said that he will publish his replies online - and I have to admit I did not notice it before. Therefore I thnk it may be time to contact him.

Actually I seem to have been talking rubbish. I cannot now see where SP's David has offered to post his replies online. But still, as he says I can always copy them and post them here if I want to. What a waste of time it all is, when they have harrassed me for years already.

Nada - if I had a customer complaining of such a thing when I was in business I would have been only too happy to discuss the matter publicly. Otherwise, how would the public know that I was honest? If people had not trusted me I wouldn't have had a chance.
