I'm finding the blue bar very 'jarring'...it hits me like a punch on the nose

I think it's just the shade of blue...all the other colours are quite soft but that is quite harsh.

(Praps I need to adjust me monitor settings  )
I agree,it's too dark..........prehaps the same shade as the chat forum on the left would be better .

What are you all like?

Which other website on the PLANET would even consider changing it's colours, smilies, layout, and forum names because its users didn't like them?

I think that the team have been extremely accomodating and that we should remember that it's not our forum.......... though sometimes it feels like it is ;)

p.s. you dont need to right-click and open in a new window, just hold the shift key on your keyboard as you click on any link with the mouse and it does the same :)

However its more fundamental than that - the sites future is dependent on people using the main site as well as chat. Otherwise i simply can't afford it to keep running. The first step was the new zones - which means that Chat is included on the main site much more with the big links at the bottom - and this is the second step :)

A thought from a thickie..... probably loads of us have the main forum index as a home page. If we all switch to using the the main site as a home page we will be just one click away from our natural environment but can help give all parts of the site the visits it needs.

    Might that help?

nasnowt, its more a case of people using the main site, reading the articles and then using some of the links in the articles. just "clicking" open the main site doesn't generate money but say you need to insure your car, if you read the relevant article then use the insurance search sites, money is generated by that :D which in turn enables martin to fund chat ;)
