Pricing error on hotel booking

Hi all, I have booked a hotel in August in Majorca @ £496 for 2 adults & 2 children half board with the travel republic (Accommodation Provider Serhs]. I have paid a deposit of £101.They have now come back to me and said that there was a pricing error and the acc provider and hotel are now negotiating . Do I have to pay any more money if there has been a pricing error on their behalf as I believe that I have entered into a contract with the company and the price that has been advertised is the price that I should only be paying. Looking forward to any replies as it would be a great help to know where I stand legally.

    Hi,
They will normally have something on their website to cover for pricing errors to be honest. They will probably look at offering you a full refund if not or 'like for like'. How many nights is that for? What hotel is it?
    Happy :)

It's for 11 nights checking in on 5th August & its the Hotel Playa Moreia S'Illot Majorca. Do I have a legally bound contract as I have paid the deposit and received an accommodation booking confirmation, I think I do

That sounds really cheap for that hotel for 11 nights. Their website state the below (and most websites will have something of this kind in their Terms)...

We endeavour to ensure that the details of all products, including prices, displayed on our websites are accurate. However, given the high volume of flights, hotels and other products offered it is inevitable that, in exceptional cases, mistakes will arise. We cannot accept liability for these errors. This is because the information which you are shown is being transmitted effectively live from the relevant travel provider’s IT system.

Notwithstanding the above, in cases where details other than price are materially incorrect we will offer you the choice of continuing with your booking or cancelling with a full refund of money paid on that booking only.

Where inaccuracies relate to the understatement of the price of a specific product you will be offered either a full refund of money paid on that booking only or the opportunity to maintain that booking on receipt of the additional payment which is necessary.
    Happy :)

You may get a slightly better rate if they are 'negotiating'

But if something is advertised on lowcost holidays and the travel republic at virtually the same price it should be correct . Lowcost was actually £490 for the same hotel.

They are probably using Serhs too so you will find the same problem on booking...there is probably a problem with the system. We sell it for 1198.00GBP (more or less for those dates/details) total to give you a comparison.

But if it is advertised at a price and a contract is entered into should that not be the final price?

No, they will have back out clauses within their T&C's for errors (because people do make mistakes).

I am guessing its like Distance selling if you did it online, the contract isn't actually formed until dispatch so for the holiday I would guess when you get the tickets.

How many times do you need to hear "no"?

    From the TR website:
We endeavour to ensure that the details of all products, including prices, displayed on our websites are accurate.
